  • Today's The Day

Selection Sunday is upon us. What will it bring? I still can't believe BU is on most of the bracket boards I've seen this week. Joe Lunardi has us playing Kentucky in Dayton, with the winner getting Illinois or Davidson! Of course, that could all change if South Carolina beats Florida today. In the past, the selection committee hasn't been too kind to BU with regards to where they send the Braves, so Dayton would be sweet if it works out that way.

    1980--Denton, TX vs. Texas A & M
    1986--Ogden, UT vs. UTEP
    1988--Birmingham, AL vs. Auburn
    1995--Providence, RI vs. Stanford

I agree, I am not completely secure that Bradley is in until I see it.

Just 1 correction, the 1988 regional when Bradley played Auburn was in Atlanta. Bradley and the fans stayed at the Omni hotel, next to the old arena (which has since been torn down).

Thanks for the correction coach. I knew it was somewhere in the South--just a day trip for Charles Barkley & Co.!

I was watching the CBS pregame show and Clark Kellogg and Seth Davis both just went over their picks for at-large bids.
BOTH agreed that the Missouri Valley will get 6 bids!. They agreed that Creighton was the last one in and would be the first one bumped, but they believed even the Bluejays deserved it over Texas A&M, Fl. State, Maryland, and all the other bubble teams.

The ESPN guys, Steve Lavin, Tom Brennan, also said the MVC will get 5, but agreed that if South Carolina wins the SEC, they will bump an MVC team, probably Missouri State.

I can't believe what I just heard Billy Packer say.

He and Jim Nance were talking about how many bids will go to midmajor conferences like the MVC and CAA, then Packer said the NCAA needs to consider what the conferences' records have been in the NCAA over the past 5 years, and adjust the bids this year accordingly.

What a simpleton. He can't figure any logical way to dispute that the MVC should get 5 or 6 bids, so he has to come up with the most ridiculous criteria I have ever heard. What exactly does a team's or conference's record 5 years ago have to do with whether it should be in the dance this year?
Maybe we should also count how many times a team is on national TV, or how big their coach's ego is (ala Gary Williams).

                      Indiana is a lock.

                      They'll get an 8 or 9 seed.
