Walter Lemon Jr. Should we start him or have him come in to the game off the bench? I asked this question at halftime in the chat room last night which resulted in some interesting comments.

    Thoughts....

I think he needs to hit the floor before Woods.....Woods entered the game 3-5 minutes before WL got off the bench?

fwiw, I stated in the chat room last night that WL should start over DD. Looking back, I think that is wrong. I think we need to try to start WL over DSE. DSE is obviously struggling and maybe having DSE coming off the bench would help DSE settle down a little.

Stating that WL should come off the bench is before Charonn is a little misleading. WL is most certainly higher than Woods on the depth chart. But WL is not a PG. It's scary when he runs the offense, and I don't want him doing it - at least at this point in his career. Woods comes in to try to get the offense back in to a more disciplined rhythm, the opposite of what WL brings. Also, anyone that has seen Woods play knows that he could be playing D-1 ball with heavy minutes in the OVC or another 'medium' mid-major. I don't think WL should be starting because he takes plays off on defense like TB did his freshman year. Not because he's not trying, just mental mistakes. I think this is very correctable(TB did it!), but until then I don't want to have WL start over DSE and run the point or have him start over our best on-ball defender.

Where the hell this come from He's appeared in 2 games in very little time and Done Nothing He shouldn't even be playing Lord have Mercy
And thats all I have to say on that subject Geeeee's

But I do agree with you on WL is no point guard and should not be starting,
As far as DSE at the point, from what I have seen, Lord have Mercy too

Pre SM injury, who would have been BU's point guard next year if DSE or WL can't do it?

Recruiting misses, and misfires, are starting to mount and may lead to the end of the current regime...just like Mo...

I should have clarified myself a little further. I don't want WL as the pg if he starts either. Why not try DD at point guard. He may be uncomfortable at pg, but he should be able to run the offensive sets by now. Sooner rather than later, teams will start keying on AW as he is our one legitimate offensive threat. If we have WL in the lineup, we at least have another player that they have to keep an eye on. After a 4 assist 19 turnover game, I think that we need to experiment with lineups.

I Like it! DD could bring some good leadership there and he had a pretty high 3 point % a couple years ago. He does know the system better than WL and DSE DSE is struggling and maybe better for us off the bench It's to bad, MK could not fill the 3 for us It's also to bad we have kept AT around so long I watched him on the bench and it's my opinion he could care less

Let's face it. It's kinda of hard to have an offense when all you have is one consitent threat. AW can't do it by himself and with no discernable offensive system that I can see that's when it breaks down to what I call the throw up a shot and hope it goes in offense. With no true point guard it doesn't matter who's in there this is the offense we are. Unless JL actualy puts some time and effort into practicing offense nothing will change.

What I want to see. We need to go back to a simple pick and roll with DSE and WL handling the ball. Set a few low screens for AW to free him up. Teach WE that when he has the ball in the post he may want to look for an open guy on the wing once in awhile. This team needs to get back to the basics offensive scheme and find another 3 point threat so they can create space where WL and DSE can be very effective driving in.

WL and DSE may of been able to get by with driving to the hoop with consistency in High School ball but its not going to happen in Div 1

I have to disagree. They are both finishers and what they need is a bit more space to operate and they'll be able to score or find an open guy ala Stockton and Malone. Back to basics is what I would do.

It's got to the point they drive everytime they get the ball They never drive and dish as Stockton did I think they drive because they either don't have a stop and pop shot or they are not out of their High School play yet But at this point after what I have seen the last two home games, I agree with you, Back to the basics

                            Simple Answer: Donivine Stewart

DD played full time point guard at Brewster Academy and at the junior college level. I assume the reason he hasn't done it here is because he's the biggest true "guard" in the lineup and the only scoring threat of the guards outside of SM (assuming AW is a forward). Thinking back to 08-09 EM was 6'0, DN was 6'0, and SM was 6'1. Outside of SM he was the only scoring threat. This year there was SM and Dyricus is 6'1. While Walt is around the same size he cannot run the PG. DD is more suited as a PG IMO but will need to get more comfortable with the position in this system as its been about 3 years since he's run the position.
