so they maybe wanted Ka'Darryl badly enough to "open up" a scholarship if was interested...

Nice to see. I think he belongs higher than most sites have him. BTW, that ESPN ranking is a little curious because of some of the names they have listed that nobody else lists, and by some they omit.
For example- They have Willie Wiley #7 in the state, while I haven't seen him listed anywhere in the top 20 since he was a freshman.
