Illinois State Recruiting

Just returned from dinner at Outback here in Bloomsburg. Wore my red Bradley University sweater. Lo and behold, my wife and I are seated at a table right next to Coach Jank, two assistants, Wilkins (I think) and a recruit. Looked to be about 6'4" and on the slender side. Maybe a 2. Tried my ****dest, but couldn't hear a thing over the ambience and the musings of She Who Must Be Obeyed. When we got up to leave, at the urging of my constant companion, Mr. Jameson, I couldn't resist the urge. I stopped at their table next to Jank, pointed to the "Bradley University" on my sweater and said, "My name is Geno Ford. Nice to meet you." Jank laughed, pointed at the recruit and said, "Stay away from him." He then asked if we had come over to Blm. for dinner (most ISU folks can't believe there are actually BU alums/fans living amongst them). I explained that we were both BU alums and residents. He invited us to come on over to the other side and one of his assistants said, "Spread the red" to which I replied, "I already am." A pleasant encounter. And the grilled salmon and bloomin' onion were terrific. As was Mr. Jameson.

Nel,
Was this encounter tonight (or last weekend), and do you know for sure tht it was a recruit?
ISU has a full roster as far as we know, and I honestly don't see us bringing in another guard.
EDIT: Alright, figured it out.
Darius Clark.

Here is how TNel's story plays out in my head. TNel grabs the waiter/waitress, and quietly picks up the check for the isu table. By the time Jank and company realize someone has paid the bill, TNel is nowhere to be found. TNell then reports this to the NCAA. Somehow, it is an NCAA violation, like just about anything else. The NCAA rules that the dinner is a recruiting violation, and displays a lack of institutional control.
isu = death penalty.
TNel = never having to buy a drink in Peoria againReturn to Glory

... and after a review of the security cameras, Geno is cleared. NCAA officials are certain it was actually Chuck Orsborn.

TNel -- thanks for the story -- just more reason the ISU fans are all coming over here to get their recruiting info..
.....anyway...what's with all the jucos???? Is Jank kinda admitting all his own prep recruits over the past couple years can't hit the broad side of a barn?

Jank has more connections and is probably more comfortable with jucos than other coaches. I find the type of recruit interesting though. We already have 5 guards joining the quad next season.
But it isn't like Jank is going just juco. He is bringing in a very good set of prep guards that he signed in the fall.
We've also been connected with James Farr, a Euro-ish 4 from Evanston.
Makes me wonder who/hom many are leaving the current squad?"But instead lets just hate while their MBB and WBB programs play blackjack against BU. Twenty-One in a row, seven by the Men & 14 by their women." ~NSBF

He's really good. I still don't really understand why he was a early period guy. As a late period guy, he'd be on the radar on a lot of teams in need of a late pg (LSU and South Carolina come to mind)

Did you know that Illinois State Teachers' Institute, which became Illinois State Normal University (now ISU) almost was placed in Peoria, but Bloomington won out in 1857.-
