Da Coach, am I reading this wrong - Cubs players are requesting?

I think it's WGN radio that wants a former player and their "preference" is a former Cubs player.

I would say 95% of the the color commentary guys in baseball are former players.

A friend emailed the link to me and I just took his word that it suggested the Cubs players were asking it be a former Cub, and the title seemed to suggest likewise-
"Cubs demand former player joins radio broadcast"

But now that I read the short article more closely, I think you are right it only suggests that WGN is requesting that, not the players.

I agree. I am curious to see who WGN hires for this job. I liked Keith Moreland and Randy Hundley when they filled in for Santo.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

            Thanks for explaining that.

I just wanted to make sure. It's not like Cubs players haven't had their run-in with media members over the years. (Chip Caray and Steve Stone)
