Well IF people are "attacking" you in PM's thats bush league.....its all fun, at least it SHOULD be and I know I never carry and grudges.

I love the exchange, like to debate and try to keep an open mind even though I am usually right.

      • Hey -- I have a simple question...

Bradley has a BIG game today, right??
Most local papers would have a big game-day story, right??
Can someone link to me to the story about BU hosting Utah tonight??

Never mind, I'll do it myself..here's the link..
College sports coverage for Peoria, IL from Peoria Journal Star.

so where on that page is it??

Is there anything there in the entire online or print version of the local newspaper, the Peoria Journal Star, that tells us about tonight's opponent, Utah??
You have to dig like crazy to even find out who Bradley is playing tonight...

Now....you can believe what you want, but this is really, really bad coverage...

The Utah press....from 1000 miles away, has coverage that puts what we have to absolute SHAME...

BTW -- the Illini fans have nothing to complain about -- Supinine gives great coverage!

        • I thought the same thing T. Was a nice story about a walk on, but that should have been a story for an off day.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

          • I agree -- it was a story about how Charron helped us out in the game last Tuesday...
so it's a story that would have been relevant last Tuesday night, maybe Wednesday morning, maybe Thursday...
but it shows up FOUR days after the game and substitutes for the game-day coverage most BU fans have come to expect and utilize to learn about the opponent...
Especially for a home game --
I have to think a whole lot of people reading the paper this morning
who might be POTENTIAL walk-up customers/fans...
DON'T even know from reading the paper that there is a game tonight!!!

The link to the nice biopic story about Charonn Woods has now been added to the Bradleyhoops page. It was nowhere to be found until now. But I agree that most fans would probably like to know a little more about the game and the team Bradley is playing tonight.

I am pretty sure Marshall Henderson is gone, and another kid Bradley recruited, Shawn Glover, is now a starter for Utah. But there should be more about the Utah team.
I believe their leading scorer is Will Clyburn, a juco kid that Iowa State and a couple MVC teams recruited hard.
For more info about Utah and the game, click the top thread on the board.

              • I agree with you guys(grab the smelling salts)....I thought there would be somewhat of a story about the game with Utah..other than at the end of the Woods article....

But I'm not cancelling my subscription yet either...30 year habits are hard to break

                  A few things:

                  1. There is no bias against BU from the PJStar. It simply does not exist. Reynolds is paid to be a straightforward reporter of the facts - which he is - and Wessler is paid to offer his opinion - which he does. Now, that doesn't account for that rogue/sith lord copy editor I mentioned earlier .

                  2. I've lived in New York City for 15 of the past 17 years. I read the papers here every day. I can't imagine how the conspiracy theorists on this board would react if they lived here and read the New York Post and Daily News. There would have to be an entire fan site just to handle the complaints about bias by the NYC media!

                  3. I frankly think that BU - and fans like us - are fortunate that, in this area of newspaper cutbacks and layoffs, the PJS continues to cover BU extensively, at home and on the road.

                  4. I love Jim Les as much as anyone you're ever going to meet but the bottom line is that BU has been mediocre-to-decent for a lengthy stretch of time and the PJS wouldn't be doing their jobs if they were looking at things with rose-colored glasses.

                  5. Da Coach, I think you're way, way off base on this front but, that said, I appreciate all the work that you and others do to make this board such a great forum for BU hoops. you do a great, great job and, while I don't post often, I stop by this board every day.

                  6. Go BU. Let's win some stinkin' games!!!!
                  A few things back:
                  1. There is bias from the PJStar. PERIOD!
                  2. Apples to Oranges - Everybody knows NYC is VERY tough on NY teams.
                  3. The PJS knows what pays the bills. (Even though they are in the red)
                  4. Mediocre is what JL's training facilities have been since coming here. How would you like to have a recruit in your office and a mouse runs across the printer behind you. As a past college athlete, I would say no thanks to that school.
                  5. Da Coach - You are right on base. Keep up the good work!
                  6. Go BU - Only thing I can agree with.

                  GO BRAVES!

                  • If the Utah players read the Urnal this morning they probably wondered if there was a game tonight.

                    • Perhaps the pjstar bosses saw our thread about how much the pjstar coverage of BU sucks, so they decided to pull the plug on BU hoops stories all together lol.

                        • I have no idea what the beef is between PJS and BU. It could be that the PJS believes negative coverage sells and goes out of their way to make sure they can sell more ads. They maybe right and are just treating the coverage as a business. Imagine that! If you stop buying and reading the PJS perhaps they would have to change. Somehow I'd have to believe the paper is in survival mode and will do what it takes to sell.

I've spent so much money advertising in the Star it's ridiculous...and my only criteria is do I get anything out of it?......I'ver never based my dollars spent with them on the type of articles written in any section of the paper. I would think most businesses would feel the same way.

The PJ Star started that bradleyhoops.com site a year or two ago to increase Bradley coverage. They even started a dedicated Bradley fan forum, supposedly for the same reason, though it now appears to get less traffic than their old College Sports forum.
But I do think they are trying to cater to fans of Bradley sports, and Dave Reynolds always does a great job. So could it be a matter of manpower or cost-cutting?

                              • I am about as close to canceling as I have ever been --and it's not just the lack of anything worth reading..
I just don't get my paper 'til 7:30AM long after leaving for work...and am tired of complaining about it
