Seriously this thread is all about grasping at straws.

The Peoria JS is focused on events in Peoria. I would expect them to have more coverage of and about PEORIA teams. Normal has their own paper to cover ISU games.

So should any article on BU games include that TB and SM are out for the season? They are out, it's time to move on. We have to find a way to win with what we have left.

You mean like the Hoops preview section of the PJStar??

One last thing...some people on here like to point out how critical the PJS is about BU basketball. Yet, these same posters LOVE to post every story that is negative about every other team and program.

Isn't that like the pot calling the kettle black?

Jank and Jonny Campos don't seem to see any negatives.

There should be some negativity after that loss though....

Everyone will have a great chance to make a case when BU plays Duke. That game will make for a better comparison: facing a ranked team as an underdog. Also, ISU should have given great effort because they were at home, BU should give great effort because every player reportedly wanted very badly to play Duke. So effort levels should be able to be compared even though one was home and one was away. The only variable should be missing starters and national TV coverage.

If BU gets embarrassed by Duke, then compare that article to the ISU one for the loss.

I would suggest starting an independent newspaper that only offers 'fair and objective' pro-BU propaganda. It was the solution to the PJ Star Forums issue, and I see it as the only way to solve the PJ Star newspaper issue.

Newspapers lose money. Why would anyone want to start a business that is guaranteed to lose money.
Why not start a website instead...oops, I guess that's what people have done.

I worked with a guy who was an ISU grad. On numerous occasions, he would bring a KW article into my office for a joke. He would then state, that he was glad that KW did not write for the Redbirds. Then shortly after he said that, he would say... well maybe KW does write for ISU!

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

I think you've got it all backwards. If the PJS were actually out to get Bradley I doubt they would write negative articles about JL's teams. If you're truly out to get them, you would constantly defend the JL regime and then that lofty 54% winning percentage stays here forever.

I agree Like I said before, what the hell difference does it make if you lose why 31 or 5 You lose and your record will indicate so with a 1 in the lost column

                      Another comparison-

Here is columnist Randy Kindred's column about last night's ISU loss in the Bloomington Pantagraph (Kindred is not the ISU beat writer, but is the Pantagraph's sports columnist, the equivalent of Kirk Wessler)-

Perimeter shooting woes hurt ISU effort against Rebels

Compare that column with the post-game column by Kirk Wessler
                      Nothing good about Bradley's loss

Enough said. The Kindred column suggests ISU just simply had an off night shooting the ball, and that the game would have been different if not for this fluke. Their 31 point blowout loss was just real bad luck! Heck, in practice earlier, they were shooting the ball real well!
I can't find a single negative or critical comment in the column.

I watched the game and it was a whole lot more than that. They shot poorly, rebounded poorly, showed little effort, looked confused, played horrible defense, and never seemed to make any adjustments the whole game. I suspect if Kindred and Wessler switched jobs, Kirk might have been able to find a few more negative thoughts about last night's game if he really tried.

The problem here is that KW finds ways to go over the top whenever possible. If he would omit a lot of the sarcasm in his article, he would be far more effective. But KW will never understand this! Judging from his writing style, KW is the type of person who at a party, thinks that he is the wittiest and funniest person in the room, but in reality is neither!

I think Kirk is happy with how he is perceived. Just think about how much pub all of his articles get. That is his job as a columnist. Get people talking. Sell papers.
