In the Reggie Bush case how long did the investigation take? Quite a bit longer than this one has been going on. Is this investigation over....no and it wont be for quite a while. Is there any proof that Cam Newton did anything wrong? Nothing that has been released at this point. Auburn decided to declare him ineligible which is why the NCAA cam back with the reuling that he is eligible for the game on Sat. Seems like a lot more is being made of nothing here.

but this one had a special, important reason to hurry it along...
that was because Auburn might have been forced to hold Newton out of all games knowing that had they allowed an ineligible player to play, they could be opening the door to far heavier sanctions...

Thus NCAA acted immediately so to get Newton back on the field pronto and help out those bowl game ratings!!

The Reggie Bush debacle took 5 years because Bush was already out of school, and NCAA wanted to drag their feet as long as possible and hope the interest would go away and everyone would just forget..

That's true but what the NCAA did was declare him eligible for the game on Sat, not let him completely off the hook. If later they find that he should not have been icicle Auburnwill probably have to forfeit all their gamesfrom this year anyway.
