Illinois top player Derrick Rose was reported to be deciding between Memphis and Indiana.
But he is now reconsidering Illinois. The Sun Times says he will be at Illinois Friday for their Orange and Blue scrimmage.

The report of Semrau on page 2 is not so flattering and sounds like he might redshirt. That would put him into the same freshman class as Bill Cole and Mike Tisdale, making it more likely one or both of them could redshirt next year.

Some sites are reporting that Rose has narrowed his choices to just two, IU and Memphis.
His sudden apparent interest in the Illini is thought by some to be a bit of a publicity grabbing event.

Did anyone see some of the video highlights on the news last night from the Illini's Orange & Blue scrimmage?
They showed Derrick Rose more than any basketball highlights, and the look on Rose's face was a real gasser.
He looked totally bored, as if he was being forced by his handlers to be there against his will.
If I were setting odds, they'd be 1,000,000 to 1 against the Illini if only Derrick's preferences mattered,
although you just never know, since everything that surrounds Derrick Rose is seemingly run by someone other than Derrick.



In fact, only Reggie Rose talked with the press or anyone else. Derrick remained silent and never utteredt a word.

Here is a picture of all the Illini players greeting Reggie Rose (in front) and Derrick Rose (in the middle), and everyone is high fivin' and chatting....except Derrick. He made very little eye contact and never said a word.
He looks downright bored in this pic.





Actually since Lewis Jackson was also there, and got almost no attention whatsoever, since everyone was
drooling over the Roses, maybe it will mean Lewis Jackson will consider Bradley a bit more?

I think Rose only came to U of I so he can have some defense to the accusations that Adidas is paying his family money. As you guys probably know, his final five were all Adidas schools, some of which seemed to never be real players with him anyhow. Now he can just say "No adidas isn't paying me money, I was wtill looking at a Nike school a week before I committed!"

It is being reported that Derrick Rose has an ankle injury and will not play in his team, Simeon's, opening game at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament.
This report seems to suggest the ankle has bothered him on and off since July.
