He is good, but there is one other factor...
McDermott is playing 31 minutes per game and thus averaging 18.86 points per 40 minutes,
and no other Valley frosh gets that much playing time...
But note that Walter Lemon averages 17.8 minutes per game & 8.6 ppg, and thus..
Walter actually scores 19.43 points per 40 minutes..better than McDermott...so it's as much due to the playing time the coach is giving him as the points scored..
McDermott is also shooting like 60% from the floor. Very good player and it makes you wonder how bad Creighton would be without him and how good UNI could be with him.
This weeks' awards go to....
Player of the Week - Kenny Lawson (had one real good game)
Newcomer of the Week - Rayvonte Rice - averaged 12 ppg & 3 rpg over two games!
BTW- Walt Lemon, Jr. averaged 13 ppg & 4.5 rpg over his past two games, but of course BU didn't win either.
Doug McDermott went scoreless in his last game to snap his streak of NOW awards...
"But instead lets just hate while their MBB and WBB programs play blackjack against BU. Twenty-One in a row, seven by the Men & 14 by their women." ~NSBF
Man, JL can't recruit! We onyl have the #1 rebounder and #1 scorer. If only JP wasn't a project. I understand that they are being forced to play major roles (at least WL), but come on!
