I am not going to spend time regurgitating all the old arguments pro and con. But the previous coach did have 20+ win seasons 4 years in a row, went to a Sweet 16, had 5 winning seasons in a row, until the 2010-2011 season which was not entirely his fault with 2 All-MVP starters out for the year, set records for fund raising and development, and averaged over 9000 attendance for his tenure. He also was expecting a great recruiting class, which included 1 or 2 outstanding spring recruits in addition to those who had already signed (Tyler Brown + a big man), which disappeared with his firing.
There is no way even the most ardent JL-haters would say our record last year would have been as bad as 7-25 if not for the coaching change.
I have high hopes and optimism for the new coach, too, but there is no question the coaching change and the fallout caused a huge setback for this program, which will take years to overcome.

Any fan is entitled to their opinions, but to say "the program is better off today than it was 2 years ago", is certainly debatable.

And following that sweet 16 run his teams in conference won 9, 10, 9, 5 there was no reason to expect things were getting better and I'm pround the administration refused to settle for mediocrity. I don't care about 20+ wins that's as exclusive as football teams making bowl games, and recruits are just that recruits. I'm more than happy to tear something down if it means being better off than you would have been in 3-4 years. Also don't forget some of the upper classmen contributing to these poor teams were once highly regarded JL recruits.

OK, I don't agree, but I respect your opinion. But please be equal and fair in assessing where we are now and in the future. There is simply no way 7-25, and 2 conference wins can be said to be a better place that where we were.

By the way, JL had 11 conference wins in 2006, then had 10. 9, 10, 9, and 4 in the following 5 seasons. When we get back to 9 or 10 MVC wins, then come back and tell us how much better we are, not when we have 2.

You know i didn't mean the team is better today, but over JL's last 4 seasons Bradley was never an elite conference title contender. When results stagnate and begin to decline, you lose hope. I don't think anyone will argue JL did phenomenal things for the university, and a lot of future success will be due in part to him, but the hope of becoming elite was lost.

While I may not agree entirely with your other statements DeltaBrave03 I can agree with this. Of course, at the end of the day none of this matters any way. Les is gone and Geno appears to be on the right track to turning this thing around. Hopefully, he'll be able to finish an unfinished job and win some MVC Championships. That's why he's being paid nearly a Mill a year.

I hope you are right! I hope that we get some real players for those two last scholarships or I'm betting there will be no MVC championships in the near future. MVC championships are won with 2-3 All Valley types on your team with a deep bench of pretty good role players. We have the role players but will we get the needed talent?

There are three players at the top of my list and I think we have a decent shot at them. If we were to get all three, or even 2 of the 3, I would be very pleased!

We will win 4 or 5 more games this year just because we are playing more cupcakes this year. I'm not sure we are any better maybe a little deeper that's all.

Paying Geno almost a million a year is a joke. That just shows Cross is lost too.

It's about half that, which is still alot, but lets not make it bigger than it is. I also don't believe Cross was the one pulling the strings behind the firing and hiring.

let's try to keep this about Eddren - I met & talked with him many times - and I always felt he was mostly a good kid who (as many know) had been thru a lot of serious problems that were not of his doing..
While I don't condone the actions that got him arrested - he sure hasn't done much more than we hear about on a daily basis at plenty of other schools - just that at BU it gets publicized more and penalized properly so some draw the conclusion he was a bad egg.......

Good points about Eddren tornado. I've also heard he is a good kid that was dealt a bad hand before coming to BU. I hope he's able to turn things around and be successful in life.
