  • Donivine Stewart win MVP of Tournament

In their tournament division, the Limestone Rockets finished 2-1 tied for best record, and Donivine was named MVP in their tourney division...
In the final game over Roncalli, Limestone wins by 6 and Donivine has a fine game..

Donivine scored 24 points today. I don't have official stats, but I believe he was 5 of 6 from three.

Did we ever get a stat line from his game on Friday? I never saw one.

How did he get MVP over the guy going to Vandy?

Now that is what I like to see!
          Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

that's great, but the problem here is that that is basically all he does--stand on the perimeter and shoot long range. limestone doesn't screen for him enough, nor does he look to slash to the bucket enough.

in that game against roncalli, they had no idea how to defend the three or play help-side defense, nor were any adjustments made. really talented team, but i'd honestly take morton and washington over them in the mid-illini this year, based off of what i saw at the toc.

If he can consistently knock down an open 3, that's just fine. I look for him to be a pass-first orchestrator of the offense at the DI level. He won't need to score like he does in high school.

i don't disagree, i just think it's a waste of his skills to have him standing at the top of the key waiting to chuck up a three rather than have him working on his dribble drive and distribution skill set. not good habits to get into.
