Not in my section. We stand when it's appropriate and we're not close to the students, who even if they are standing have to keep quiet along with the band while we have to hear how many points BU needs for me to buy one get one free or who gets the best seat in the house.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

This is the problem with sports in general. I cannot take one more of these stupid game break promotions, no matter which team I go and watch! I also don't get why many pro teams have the crowd standing [i]during a timeout[i/], and then basically telling them to get quiet once the game starts again!

Try telling someone to sit down and be quiet at Cameron Indoor Stadium and you might be thrown out of the building!

Well.....I've seen more than one Bradley student/recent alum standing and cheering on their team and almost get in a fight with the people 4-5 rows behind them.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

I know what you're saying, but not everyone has the same amount of enthusiasm but can still be into the game. Doubt if any students in the student section underneath the basket are told to sit down. Maybe there should be a section(s) for those who have the energy to stand all night.

i've always wished the same thing. i wish they would have just a "general seating section" near the court that is for people who want to stand/cheer/be loud/not offend the casual fan. there are plenty of open seats in area behind band/red sea that would be a great place for those of us that want to stand. the nice thing about it if they ever did this would be that the fans who want a more relaxed view of the game could enjoy the game the way they wish, and us fans who might just still need to grow up can have a spot to go crazy!!

The team has not given a lot of fans a reason to stand and cheer , do not compare Bradley to Illinois or the other schools that have a huge student population as with at least 3 to 4000 students in attendance it makes a huge difference, whenever BU plays well and there is a need to stand most of my section is on their feet and I have never had one person ask for me to sit down, things got screwed up with the standing until the other team makes a basket during the previous coaches tenure and has continued on, I would like to see us stand for the first 4 minute of each half and continue as long as we are on a good run, this would work if the cheerleaders put one of themselves in charge of each section and help up a stand and make noise sign.

wasn't comparing bradley to illinois. this was comparing bradley to western michigan. they do have an undergraduate enrollment of 21,000, so i'm sure that had something to do with the excitement. but i stand by my thought that had we trailed 18-25 points for most of the game, it would have been pretty silent in carver library....errrrrr.....arena

                  Easy soloution.

You attend games at one of the few venues around that serves alcohol at a college basketball game.

If don't drink, grab an O'Doul's an just yell anyway. Who cares.

The top 2 reasons that affect crowd response is the strength of competition and the age majority of the crowd.

All Bradley home games this season have been low Division 1 talent. Games Bradley used to be able to slaughter by 15 or more points before last season. Having even more trouble this season to barely even beat them. Add that to the fact that 50% or more of the attendance is usually over 55 years old. Not going to find a lot of 55 year olds jumping and screaming with the type of play this season and opponents.

Low grade opponents and lackluster effort = quiet home crowd.

It's a simple equation, if you want to get the crowd excited, you need to give them a reason. The games we've won at home so far are games we should win. And when you look like total crap vs. arguably the worst D1 team Carver will see all year and lose, it's logical that the crowd will be reluctant to show much support.

Diehards like us on this board will usually be the loudest in the building, but to get 10,000 rocking consistently (or even in the building), you've got put a FAR better product with FAR more effort than what we've seen.

I hate to say this, but the crowd noise (or lack of it) we've seen this season is representative of the product on the court.

So when Bradley goes to Duke on Dec. 8th, the Cameron Crazies will only give a partial effort in being excited because of their "low grade opponent"? No, they are excited whether they are playing North Carolina or Bradley or even lowly ISU(Sorry Redbird fans! But you do have the lowest RPI in the Valley and you do have a S.O.S. of 331.)

I wish that there was just an outlet for the few of us who actually want to cheer the whole game so we don't interrupt peoples naps, social hour and book reading with our clapping, cheering, boo-ing(refs and visiting players only, of course!) and fun.

Have to disagree with the formula....i like mine better

Aloof alumni + disinterested administration = quiet home crowd

I think everyone, including the game day operations staff, missed something at the last game. For the 5 seconds (maybe less, I didn't have my stopwatch out) that they briefly flashed the noise meter up on the new scoreboard, it started to actually get loud and sound like a basketball game instead of a mime funeral. While I normally would be slightly put off by the use of gimmickry to create noise and enthusiasm, the BU crowds this year are flatlining and need the paddles put on them, STAT!

So utilize that million dollar scoreboard and put that joker up on it, not just during a timeout, but WHENEVER the Braves are struggling and need a big boost. Need a defensive stand? Noise meter time!

Wait wait wait never mind. It would probably upset the socialites who are finalizing their business deals over cocktails. To be honest, I enjoy going to road games. It is a hundred times more fun to raise a ruckus and have people get mad at me on the road as opposed to the same thing happeniung at home.

I've been going to BU games longer than most on this board. I stand when appropriate and have never been told, or ask, to sit down. The next home game is Dec 4th. All you guys who think you are such great fans because you want to stand the entire game, do me a favor. On Dec 4th watch what happens when the crowd wants to stand and make noise and there is a timeout. Then after the game come on here and tell me what happened.

I stopped the quote there because that's where your point loses.

Duke is among a few other select "Evil Empires" that can't be compared to unless you are also one of the "Evil Empires". Simple as that.
