hey -- just being a message board poster gets me attacked...I can only imagine what the coach sees and hears....
Even if you don't like the current coach this cacophony of rips and criticisms will surely guarantee that we'll get gobs of great applicants for the position
and we'll probably hire away the current head coach of EKU or Army, so be prepared...
Just as people whined and wailed a few years ago to get rid of Mo, they're at it again ..and next time around will probably only give the new guy 2-3 years before it starts again...
I dunno about others but I think that comes with the territory...just look at how bad Lowery is getting it at SIU...
Imagine if he were at a BCS how worse it would be...
I'm sorry but if I did my job just slightly above average (if that) and didn't direct my employees under me properly, it'd take a whole lot less than 9 years for me to lose my job.
I would agree with you if they attacked his lifestyle or his family, but I have yet to see anything not related to coaching...
It is what it is at this point...lots of people are not happy...
If he had won a title with this group last year or the previous group with Theron, he'd have a pass, but it never happened...I think 9 years is more than enough to prove the worth of a head coach...
Where else can you see someone giving 9 years with zero titles of Bradley's caliber and not make a change?

I have said countless times, I am not a huge JL fan, but think he does a great job recruiting and love his attitude toward grades and discipline. And some that makes me the enemy and clearly I think JL is god and have never seen a BU Basketball game, even though I post otherwise, quite often. I really don't think people understand what our next hire will be and they might very well be longing for the days of JL.Originally posted by tornado View PostI guess if I was coach, I would grow pretty tired of the constant attacks from the press, from fans, on message boards..

it's the endless drones of the same thing - the turning over every thread, even threads about totally different subjects, into JL-bashing - and the preemptive slams about being on the hot seat - and the slamming of JL for things (like injuries) that he has no control over...
It seems to never end, and yet if we had taken a poll at the start of the season, most would have said they'd be happy with 4-2 at this point...
He is a great person, but in the eyes of some, not a good major college coach. He is in a very public job, and, as such, will draw public opinion positive and negative. I imagine actors/actresses and politicians at the higher levels in our society, receive the same adolation and criticism for their work. Why, even CEO's of the worlds largest companies get called out from time to time. All do quite well financially as well by the way. All have volunteered for their profession and have leveraged their very public exposure to make a lot of money and enjoy benefits.
Quit with the woe is me/JL/BU over people expressing their negative opinions about the state of the BU program and its coach.
OTHERWISE.....
I think fair public support/adoration is fair -- just say it and let it be...

It seems to never end, yet if we had taken a poll at the start of JL's career, most would have said he shouldn't be offered the job (or replaced) if the result would be 9 years without a MVC title, or a MVC Tourney title...
The other interesting thing, and union folks point this out with every criticism of overpaying Corporate CEO's, is any up and coming successful BB coach, and others who have fallen from the top, would take the BU job in a NY minute if it opened up....please see Rich Lavin at St Joe's...
Guys, it's not personal, it's just business, capisce?BUilding for the Future

I have supported Les from day one, after losing to Quincy and EIU I have lost all confidence in him getting the job done as far as winning championships, I do not want him to fail as he coaches the team I am a fan of and will continue to support BU whether he is the coach or not, hope he turns it around but he needs to make big changes in order to accomplish that.

We've lost multiple exhibition games, many games that we never had any business of losing, no titles, and most of all, we now have ZERO home court advantage as we lose regularly at PCC.
There are many things that need to change...
We already changed assistants...
What's next?

9 years, thats 2 full recruiting classes that have had some talent in them. Now, that talent may be over hyped, or the coach cant get the full potential out of them. Maybe its a combination of both.
He has had 1 full recruiting class since the sweet 16. The only legitimate postseason tournament other than that was the 07 NIT. That team still had a lot of pieces from the 2006 team.
IMO, injuries and excuses have been the norm for JL's tenure. If he recruited the talent, or could get more out of his players he wouldnt have to use those excuses if someone was injured instead of always falling back on the "oh, losing player x really hurt us". Yes, it hurts, but nobody is going to hand it to you, you still have to get the best out of what you have.
