Everything clicked in 06 at the right time. It was obvious we had the talent and wondering if it was ever going to reach potential. It all came together at the end of the season. I think many were concerned when Chuck left that the defense and toughness might leave too. Chuck was maybe the only asst. that JL seemed to listen to with any regularity
What I have a hard time understanding is JL was really a tough player and competitor, you would think getting these guys to understand that the effort has to be there regardless of who you play would be one of the easiest things to get across to these guys.
Thanks for that explanation, something I was leaning towards as my assessment with the program as well. So that's one "vote" for lack of talent/recruiting versus coaching.
I agree that preaching effort seems to be the problem for Les right now. I know some will say X's and O's, but I never make a statement regarding his coaching abilities because I have never attended a practice, although some will argue that playing a four guard offense for five years is all the evidence one needs. But if it falls back to recruiting and/or lack of motivation, well I would think these are things that can be learned over time. I think Les is a good recruiter because it was his recruits that took Bradley to their peak those two years. Perhaps it's a lot of talk but not a lot follow through that keeps the players lethargic. Then again I may be way offbase there too.
I don't know what you do with this team. Sit all five starters out for the first 4 or 5 minutes of the next game to send a message, and then sit anyone who continues to play lethargic afterwards? I really don't have an answer with this team anymore.
What if the school takes an invite for CBI/CIT (if they are even still around), and the field has some power conference teams?
Should BU still reject?
It's not my place to decide whether they should reject that or not. But I will say that power conference teams don't really matter here since any that play in these tournaments aren't good enough for the NIT or NCAA Tournament either.
Knowing our luck, we probably would end up with USC again, a team that has shown they are no better than CBI/CIT caliber either.

I really don't care what we would do in this case. My point is that nothing short of an NIT bid and Top 3 MVC finish is acceptable this year -- No Excuses!

I am torn on this issue. I really thought NCAA was mandatory this year. Now, I know that will bring the injury issue up. However, the coach is on the hook for making sure the team is not overly dependant on one player too.
There are ways to win with this team. Losing to Eastern is unacceptable to me, no matter that TB is out. We should beat that , team without TB, SM, and AW. That team is bad.

According to a close friend of mine who is well connected with several folks who would be in a position to know about these things, "only JL, the AD and the JG know the length of JL's current contract."
My guess is JL's wife and JL's lawyer/agent also have a pretty good idea!
I suspect the contract is long enough to make a buyout at this time a moot point.
Just gotta hope JL can better recruit, teach, motivate and coach his BU teams for the next couple of seasons.
Perhaps BU could install new fountains outside the PCC and the new on campus arena where fans can toss coins in and make wishes for improvement.
In case that doesn't work out, the money can be collected and used to buy out JL's remaining contract, or, pay for another coach...

My understanding is he had 3 years left at the start of this season.

I thought the PJS reported in the last couple weeks that he had four years remaining. I believe that was after this season. Don't tell me the PJS is reporting false information!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
