  • Iowa State junior suspended

One of the highly touted Iowa State recruits is already in trouble.
Juco transfer and projected starter, from Chipola, Michael Taylor suspended.
He can still practice, but will miss the first exhibition game
in which Iowa State plays "EA Sports" on Nov. 3.

Iowa State will also be dealing with a suspension of another of their junior college players.

Center Jiri Hubalek will miss the first six games of the season because of an NCAA imposed suspension for receiving extra benefits (a free car from a booster).

I guess Michael Taylor wasn't suspended for long as he played last night in Iowa State's exhibition game against Wayne State.
The halftime score was 21-16, and Iowa State ended up pulling this one out 55-41, but they shot 31% as a team and only 13-23 on FTs.
Now their starting center Jiri Hubalek begins his suspension for impermissable benefits.
Of interest, Iowa State head coach Greg McDermott's close friend and UNI athletic director was one of the officials.
