Wow! Chaminade does it again! Not like the upset they had a couple of decades ago against a top 3 team (I forget who that was), but still a victory over a very solid BCS team.

Even the Our Lady of the Lake upset was big. While no one will mistake Texas St. for even an average D-I team, any time an NAIA team can pull off an upset like this is news worthy.

Wichita gets a VERY VERY VERY important win over Virginia for profile purposes.

A good win for them. But how good is Virginia predicted to be this year?

Middle of the pack in the ACC. But after losing to a mid-pack UConn (ok, maybe that changed last night), then needed any semblance of a quality win because the rest of their schedule is so devoid of anything nutritious for the RPI diet.

What began as getting a win vs. UConn and 2 games vs. ranked teams turned into a marginal win over Virginia, one worthless one over Chaminade and a marginal loss to an unranked team. Worst case scenario for Wichita, minus the last win of course.

Also, as an aside: by Wichita showing up to Maui and a couple other games, the MVC is back to #13 in the CRPI and the #11 SoS. We're no longer at critical mass.

Didn't know where to post this...but it is interesting...

Odessa College, a junior college in Western Texas...is scheduled to play the basketball team from the University of Chihuahua today...

This season reflects the first time the American junior colleges are scheduling the Mexican college teams - which by the way are four-year schools.
Here's a story about why they're doing it -- it's mainly because of travel distances, that the Mexican teams are a whole lot closer than most other opponents..
but Western Texas has a whole lot of Hispanic people and the idea is a popular idea...
News, Sports, Obituaries, Classifieds, Events and more

BTW -- Odessa already played Chihuahua once and beat them 90-55 and beat Monterrey 87-58
The Odessa women also beat Chihuahua 84-61

Some other thoughts on games last night..

Wichita beat Virginia but Evansville lost to MTSU - Colt Ryan 31 pts.
Drake beat Southern Utah 78-59, rice with his best game 15 pts, 10 rebs.

Ball State almost beat St. John's...it took overtime for SJU to win 78-73
