  • Winning Ugly vs. Looking Pretty Losing?

Just for discussion sake: Is Molinari being vindicated is some ways at this point in the BU season? They cannot hit threes like they used to yet alone twos so far, they can't drive to the basket like they did for a couple three seasons (although Lemon shows glimpses if he can stay under control), and there are no real spectacular dunks to make us ooh and ahh, heck, they are getting killed on the boards, but when it is all said and done, the other team is looking nastier than us and wins are being had. Granted, the competition is not all that tough yet, but it is slowly ratchetting up and they are getting it done.

And the scheduling by the way, I sort of like. Other than a few too many games in a short period of time, I like how it slowly gets tougher, especially as it leads up to the Duke game which is bracketed by enough time off and with doable wins. The team seems pretty tight from chemistry stand-point--they really seem to be together with each other...I am intrigued and taking it in one game at a time :-)

Sorry, I do not what this has to do with Jim Molinari.

Coach - I think this one is obvious -- Mo won a lot of tough defensive battles, not looking pretty doing it. Les brought more of a high octane offense, at least in the early Les years, and we lost a few track meets.

I don't think Mo needs vindication, but this is beginning to resemble a Mo-style game, where the 59-57 wins start to add up.

If anyone has a problem with winning ugly, I suggest you think about it again --- I would take a 28-27 win over Duke!

but Mo's game were ugly because the scores and offense were slowed down although there were NOT a lot of turnovers and missed shots...

our 4 wins are ugly because of the turnovers and missed shots --

The only similarity I see is good D. Mo's D was always good & JL's D this year is improving.

This team will attack the basket from time to time whereas Mo's teams had a 4-5 pass rule before the possibility of any shot.

Plus, this team admitted has worked very little on the offense in practices. I'm hoping that the O side of the ball will improve.

I can't see DSE playing this poorly all season and hopefully Sammy will get even better as his ankles improve. WE needs to learn to play within himself - he's rushing to make a move every time he touches the ball.

Rather than getting a good shot he's taking the first shot and just seems to be throwing it at the rim in the hopes it will go in instead of shooting the ball. I know he has a good shot, just like MK. I see some good offensive play coming & they are winning in spite of it! GO BU

Yeah I'm personally looking for mo like defense plus les style scoring. Bring on some blowouts... Winning ugly better than losing, but blowouts would feel less coronary inducing.

Mo's method for holding the other team to a low total was way more about slowing the offfense down and limiting there offensive possessions, than playing tough defense.
