  • Director of Basketball Operations

I have always wondered what this job entails. I know Jeremy Crouch was hired for this position and Kyle Vogt was promoted to assistant coach. However, the Director of Basketball Operations is always dressed up and on the bench with the rest of their coaches. On most college basketball official websites, it states that these people are responsible for scheduling team travel, practice facilities, etc. Obviously this position has to have an above average knowledge of the game and some background as a player/coach. If I remember correctly one of the Wierzba's from Farmington was also Director of Basketball Operations for the Maryland women's team. So, I guess my question is, what is their role during games/practices?

Non coaching role, in charge of taping and getting tapes of games, most take this job in hope of moving up the ladder on the staff, Kyle Voght moved up by doing this job for several years.

The DBO coordinates recruits, directs the managers, organizes dinners, coordinates tape viewing, sometimes analyzes stats, etc. It's kind of a foot in your door type job in terms of coaching.
