    5 sec call

I listened to it on the radio and snell seemed to think that Les was talking/ calling a play and AW just lost track of time. It really didn't seem like a 5 sec call but what matters is the win

I doubt many would agree with me...But if this team had TB, Im not sure AW is even a plus player on this team.

I would rather have sammy dodie and dse playing most of the minutes while grooming walt.

Not an option with TB out...But scorers who don't do much else are role players, not POY candidates.
I agree. TB being out makes AW indisposable, and with TB here I wouldn't start him. I was pretty frustrated with him last night (you might have been able to tell), but looking back, throughout his career, he's alway been a 'I'm gonna get mine' type of player. When Matt Salley and AW were both newcomers I caught tons of crap from my buddies for loving MS and hating AW. 5 seasons later I stand by my opinion. I've said it before, AW has all the talent and skills to be our best player, and none of the attitude. He sure gets mad at other players, but can't direct that desire inward. Look at what Sam and Dodie do when it gets tough, Dodie was hustling harrasing playerson D, talking to the young guys before free throws; SM is bringing people in, calling plays, setting up the D and talking to coaches; AW is just kind of off doing his thing. He doesn't play selfishly on offense with the ball, that's not what I'm saying, but he plays selfish off the ball and on D. He'll go for the steal, but don't expect the rebound or some help on D....

Decent win last night in that with all the missed layups(5) and bad shooting and rebounding BU was able to win because of their defense, the zone worked as I knew it would because L.M. had very few players that could shoot 3 point shots, we could have held them to 50 if we had stayed in the zone longer but just happy we finally decided to play the correct defense against that team.
M.K. and A.T. both contributed and played hard, now they need to put forth this kind of effort every game.
Finally I hope we start working on our offense because you have to shoot a lot better then the last 2 games if we expect to win on the road or for that matter beat good teams at home.

Braves 2011, that maybe the best one I've heard. Please don't take this wrong but if you can tell if a call was right over the radio you need to take up officiating. Alot of times some of these posts give me a chuckle. This one made me laugh out loud. Keep listening to Dave when you can't get to the game,he is the best.

Ill add this again and then drop it...If AW didn't do impressions etc. he would have fallen out of favor long ago.

I have a hard time believing you are actually describing Andrew Warren in terms more fitting for TCS or Jeremy Fears..

Warren has been an exemplary college student athlete, excellent grades, fine character, good teammate, and last-but-not-least...
a kid who will end his career inside the top 20 career scorers in BU history!

Not only is he currently BU's leading scorer at 14.0 ppg, he's perennially among the top 2 or 3 on the team in scoring, rebounding, and 3-pt shooting,
he hits over 80% of his FTs, has 1061 career points, and is typically in the Top 10 of a number of Valley stat categories.
If he merely keeps up his current average, he could end his BU career with between 1500-1600+ points, which could make him the top career scorer at BU in over a decade...

Well said tornado. AW may go down as one of the most under-appreciated student athletes in BU history.

I always thought Greg Smith (early 70's) and Donald Reese (early 80's) were also under-appreciated and disrespected while at BU.

Agreed. He's still the number one scoring option on this team by a large margin.

To me it goes back to his freshman year....he showed alot of promise, subsequently people started throwing out the AP comparisons.

While I don't know if that was "fair" or not it was bound to happen. AW never turned out to be AP or even AP like. Thats not a knock as AP is one of the alltime greats at BU.

AW just never developed into the explosive, true defender hard nosed player MANY (including me ) thought he would be.

He's a nice scorer and an average defender/rebounder. He isn't real good with the ball but more a spot up shooter. Not a great slasher. He is what he is. Nothing flashy but at the end of the nite he usually has his points.

I agree..he's a great guy off the court. No trouble and fun to be around.

He just hasn't lived up to the hype but its not his fault he didn't live up to the expectations of some.....that doesn't mean he hasn't had a good career IMO.

Like I said, stat-wise, AW is gonna get his, he makes sure of that... But stats don't come close to telling the story. Ask anyone who watched the B.TV feed about AW's effort, especially on rebounds, when the game was on the line...

Funny, I think he's very over-appreciated. To me guys like JJ and Matt Salley are underappreciated. Not AW who is lauded by many as the best player on the team, but doesn't give it his all when the game is at a turning point.

He's not really over-appreciated. I think most people see him as a one-dimensional player.

I think DRU's analysis is accurate. Perhaps if he hadn't been hurt so often in his career he might be a more aggressive player.

As I see it, he might be able to get 30 points on a given night, and those will likely be points that are needed by the Braves.

So, while I agree with some of the criticisms of what he brings to the table, I think his role is still a vital one. Furthermore, I think the criticisms are warranted because it is going to be all the intangibles that make the difference for this team.

As I pointed out in the exhibition however, he is a 5th year senior. In a game where we were down 3, with the ball and 28 seconds, he took one of the most ill-advised shots I've seen by a BU player in some time, on the biggest possession of the game.

Seeing that from a 5th year senior is alarming.
