  • Michigan State's 6'9" freshman woman

I had not heard much on this lady who is just a freshman at Michigan State.

    Allyssa DeHaan

She can dunk a ball one handed but still has a very small "vertical" of only a few inches.
On Nov. 24, they play against the Valley's Indiana State.
Allyssa is going to study premed and be a doctor.

    Here are some pics

She is a beautiful young woman, but oh my, does she ever stand out because of her height. She sould give other teams some real matchup problems. Most teams don't have anyone much over 6 ft.

I wonder if she is from a differnt country? It seems to me that most of the really tall women basketball players are not from the United States, but the article says she is from Grandville, MI. Seems home-grown to me.

Allyssa DeHaan has come along quite nicely, earning her second Newcomer of the Week award in the Big ten and having quite a game Sunday against the two time Player of the Year, Jessica Davenport.
Allyssa had 25 points, 8 rebounds, 5 blocks.
            Not bad for a freshman.
