  • ISU announces Jordan Threloff will redshirt

Freshman Jordan Threloff at ISU is going to redshirt this season..

it is being reported that it is the decision of Threloff...he elected to redshirt

as always -- he can "unredshirt" if he plays even one minute before the end of the season -- as Jake did last year.

Allow me to boast a little-
I predicted Threloff would redshirt in this post from last February- see the last 2 sentences.

There were ISU fans claiming he would play right away and have an impact. Even some who predicted he would dominate the MVC!

Yes. Kinda like several of your fans who predicted the same thing from another Jordan who red-shirted at your school last year, right?
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

Can't wait to see those two go head-to-head in the future!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

nobody here ever predicted JP would dominate the MVC -- some thought he'd be good as a freshman but I never saw anyone who was completely surprised that he redshirted given his playing time chances with three other more experienced big men ahead of him...

Great call on Threloff Coach. I found another post where you said he would probably redshirt:

But Mishler will never play any significant amount. He'd be better off at D2 or D3.
And I have seen Threloff, and he could have the potential to be a good player in a couple years. But I wouldn't be surprised if he redshirts next year.
Of course you were dead wrong about Mishler, but hey 50% is good.

Haha, lets hold out on Mishler a tick. TCS looked good early on... Way better than Mishler.

You want to place a wager on how significant Mishler's playing time will be? Playing 21 minutes in a single blowout game against one of the worst D1 teams is not exactly what I would accept as proof I was wrong on that prediction, and I think you know that.
His average at the end of this year will be closer to the 2.8 minutes per game he averaged last year than the 21 minutes he played against SIUe (after averaging 7 and 10 mpg in his 2 seasons at ETSU). His time will drop off after Wilkins becomes eligible, and Tony Lewis gets healthy.

i'd love to place a wager coach. But it won't be on minutes per game. It will be on significant time played.

Since I watch / listen to most every game I will be back to remind you when Mishler gets any game time during which his time is significant (ie close game, non-mop up situations).

He is Jackie's back-up and yeah Jackie fouls......he fouls alot!!

I hope so. Blake is a wonderful kid, and I hope he leads the team in mpg and scoring! I would love to be wrong on him!

I am not saying Blake is going to be all-mvc, but he is going play meaningful minutes as Jackie's back-up. He is one of the biggest reasons Therloff has the luxury of redshirting.

Mishler's only chance at playing time is at the 5. Lewis is 6'6 at most so he won't be able to guard players like SVD and Stutz if Jackie is out of the game. From what we've seen from Wilkins, he can't hang in the block as a defender; too weak. Not sure what Ekey can do against bigger players. He will have the advantage on jumping ability but not with strength.

Jackie will have games where he is out early due to fouls. If the other team has a big 5, Mishler will be needed. If Jackie is out due to injury, we will need a back-up 5 where I wouldn't be surprised to see Threloff.

Threloff is much improved from the beginning of the summer and I expect him to improve as the season progresses. I hope injuries don't force us in to seeing him too soon.

As far as that wager on Mishler... Is the bet on minutes played?

Not to divert but what's the story on Andrew Davis?

                            Is he redshirting or not?

Mishler played 10 minutes, 2 pts...so I guess the Bradley fans can outthink the ISU coach, but the ISU fans have no clue...
doesn't surprise me, since the stands were empty...
