  • Redshirts?

Feel free to post anything you've seen or read about incoming Valley recruits who might or will redshirt.

According to reports out of Northern Iowa, two or three of their incoming freshmen will redshirt, Josh Molstead, Stephen Jones, and Kerwin Dunham are listed as most likely.

I have not heard a thing about any of the Redbird frosh reshirting, and it's pretty certain none of the BU kids will redshirt unless something really unexpected happens.

Chis Cornelius at SIU will likely not play this season but has used his redshirt year.

I dont think so, I think it could have been a remote possibility before, but given that RB is out this year, i dont think it will happen. I think he can be a solid contributer by the middle of the season.

        Andrew Warren will not redshirt.
He will get some decent minutes this season if he is ready.

One other note, just mentioned in the press, Steve Merfeld says that freshman guard Willie Larry at Evansville is recovering frmo knee surgery and will redshirt. He would not have been expected to have played much with all the experienced players they have returning anyway.

Warren won't redshirt. He'll see minutes this year, and I think could find a nice role as a spot-up shooter off the bench.

Will Warren see an average of more minutes in the last 10 games of the season than JC?

I think so, but time will tell.

JC looked awfully good last night.

No. the suspension has to be for a full season in which he's actively part of the roster. Ray could probably be redshirted this year, but then he would still have to serve a 1 year suspension next year.

The staff would agree with you on that one. They thought he'd be more ready than he was, and by the time they recognized it, it was too late. If they could do it over again, they'd have redshirted him.

i def agree with no chance of seeing waren redshirt after last night. He is a lot more athietic then I thought he would be. He seemed to struggle a little with his shot but looked fairly comfortable out there

Drake coach Tom Davis has decided to redshirt Kit Avery, a 6-2 freshman guard from a small Minesota HS.

Indeed now there is an article that Kerwin Dunham at UNI will redshirt.

Here is the initial report of Dunham verballing to UNI in 2004 and he states, that he wasn't even recruited, and that he got a scholarship offered just by attending a camp at UNI.

Here is another article from the Panther board about how the scholarship was totally unexpected, as he simply went to the camp and came away with the offer.

Here's one that surprises, although some saw it coming:

"(Porter) Moser has held out 6-8 sophomore forward Dinma Odiakosa the first two games in the possibility of redshirting him."

There was talk of redshirt last year but ISU was so think they couldn't afford it.
They aren't that deep this year and if Slack and Dilligard are in foul trouble, then they may need Odiakosa.
