  • TB out for season

    Seriously...this one will hurt.

Don't have the link, but just got the e-mail:

PEORIA, Ill. - Bradley men's basketball junior forward Taylor Brown (Atlanta, Ga./Dunwoody H.S.), a preseason honorable mention All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, will miss the 2010-11 season for precautionary medical reasons, ninth-year head coach Jim Les announced today. Brown requires cardiac testing that necessitates a three-month rest period for proper evaluation.

"Our number one priority right now is Taylor's long-term health," said Les. "Upon the completion of some preliminary cardiac testing, doctors have indicated he needs three months without athletic activity before they can conduct a further evaluation. Our thoughts, prayers and support will be with Taylor as he awaits those results."

An additional review of the health status of all Bradley student-athletes was conducted following the recent death of Braves baseball player Philip Kaiser Jr. As a result, Brown underwent a series of tests during the past week. Doctors determined that additional evaluation is necessary before he may be cleared to resume athletic activity.

"I am very disappointed that I will not be able to play basketball this year," said Brown. "I will, however, support and motivate my teammates from the sidelines."

"Taylor's health is our priority at this time," said Taylor's father Rick Brown. "We love our son very much and trust that God has a plan for Taylor."

The Braves will open their 107th men's basketball season Friday at 8:05 p.m. when they host Texas A&M-Kingsville in the first round of the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament at Carver Arena.

This. Sucks. I'm so glad that they identified this cardiac problem ahead of time. Does anybody remember that USI player who collapsed on the court, scary stuff right there.

Why were people trying to keep this hush-hush?

Terrible news for Taylor. He was set for a great season. But I think all Bradley fans are glad this problem was uncovered and is being investigated.
Get well soon TB, and come back next year!

Wow. "Devastating" definitely was the right word.
This is just the tip of the iceberg...

Safety and health of our players and students is obviously greater than basketball. But, this is a huge blow to this years team. We need one of the youngsters to really step up and play big minutes this season now more than ever.

No one was trying to keep this hush-hush. It was just discovered in the past 24 hours. Instead, we had to remove rumors that there was discipline issues that were never true in the first place. I think those who were trying to propagate those false rumors owe TB an apology.

Wow! Sad to hear in terms of the team, but good to hear that they caught this before something bad happened!
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

                    Well there went Les' season...

                    Over before it even began...

So without Taylor is it looking like 6th or worse?

Gloom and doom maybe but I have very low expectations now

A real downer to start the year

Wow...I am incredibly bummed out now. I'm glad they caught it for TB of course. But this makes my expectations for this year decrease significantly....why every year does this happen to us....

Is there any chance after 3 months he comes back around February? Or is the season for sure shot? He can't take a redshirt year either because of his transferring I believe.

I wonder if this change in depth will change the thoughts of AD redshirting?

                          This. Always. Happens.

I can not remember a sports team on any level with this kind of bad luck with their roster year in and year out.

I am no expert but I would tend to believe that this is a perfect example of a legitimate reason for a medical redshirt.
