nice win. Can't get too excited about it though as TAMUK is a pretty bad team. Would like to have seen a bigger line up used at times.

Observations....
1. No way we could have played JP and WE together tonight. Their 4 would have gone right around them.
2. MK - sheesh. What are you doing.
3. Lemon was the star tonight, love that he gets to the line
4. SM was invisible and AW was close to it.
5. Scoreboard - nice
6. Where was Eastman?
7. Student section - awesome! Most I have seen there in a long time. There were some students in the upper bowl because there were no lower seats left.
8. Donivine was there. That dude is short.
9. T shirt machine gun - great idea, a little low on power.
10. WE - missed too many bunnies but looked real good at times.
11. JP - does a lot of good things, will only get better, this will be as bad as he looks all year

And what about the fresh half time act! Love when they bring something new in!
WL is good, and love that he made his first 5 free throws.
DD is going to be the steady presence we need this year with TB out.
I"m not totally discouraged after tonight, but we still have a lot of work to do.

A few comments-
#1- The opening intro- Surely they could have done better with the video. How about old clips of The Hawk, one second left, 90 feet to go at Drake, or a last second buzzer beater. Hate to be picky, but it was kind of anticlimatic.
#2- Starting lineups to tip- Ok, but was it just me or did everyone kind of act like they didn't know what to do when "Swing March" didn't get played. Maybe 15% of the arena was clapping in unison before the tip, compared to the typical 60-70% for swing march. Maybe I'm off there......
#3- Nice to see good D
#4- We'll shoot better, Lemon, Dodie, and DSE looked solid offensively. Sammy will be fine once he gets a few games in.
#5- Maybe 5K to 5500 actual butts in the seats tonight, I know it was a glorified exhibition, but......
#6- Vroman is a riot to watch. Such a look of disgust when the band isnt ready or someone does something to throw him off. Glad for his dedication, a Carver Arena mainstay. All feels right when he stands on the podium.
#7- Rebounding is gonna be an issue folks. Will and JP will do ok, but all 5 must crash for us to have a shot at rebounding this year.

1) good to get a win
2) student section was great , keep coming.
3) hopefully we improve each game
4) going to have a tough time against teams with good inside players because we struggle to rebound the ball
5) the same 2 players looked lost again tonight, they need to contribute or else sit out as we cannot give minutes to players that add nothing.
6) we are shooting way too many 3 pointers when we could get better shots around 15 ft.
7) this could be a long season if we do not figure out how to rebound and defend inside better, the absence of Taylor is huge and we have no one to fill in for him as we end up tall and slow or too small.

BUBraves story.....
PEORIA, Ill. ? Freshman guard Walt Lemon Jr. (Chicago, Ill./Julian H.S.) led four Braves in double-figures by scoring a game-high 16 points as a short-handed Bradley squad opened its 107th men's basketball season with a 66-55 victory versus Texas A&M-Kingsville (0-1) in the first round of the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament Friday night at Carver Arena.

18 min. 0-3 3 REB, 2 fouls, 3 TO. You can't tell me that Eastman isn't better. He looks lost. I really liked him last year too. I wish him well, but he's getting worse.
I love Lemon and JP in that order. My only worry with Lemon is that his game doesn't fit well into a Les "system."JL are not respunsible foor the string of injunrys....

I havn't had time to read thru all the posts but good job team tonight. Someone had to step up and fill Brown's spot and that appears to be Lemons taking. If he can develop a 3 point shot, he just might challenge for MVC player of the year next year or beyond. Explosive to the rim, nice jump shot, nearly led the team in rebounds, FT shooter and appears to be good on defense.
Overall it was a good effort, although the offense seemed to be in fast forward at times and lost at least 3 rebounds as multiple BU players fought among themselves for the rebound. Have to work on the communication, fine tune the lineups a tad bit & offensive sets and I think they'll be just fine with a few more games under their belt.
I also want to give these Refs an A+ LOL. They let a lot of contact go but appeared to be rather generous to BU. Egolf, Prosser and briefly Thompson were all pretty physical inside, i'm not sure if that would fly during Valley play. They were pretty good overall though. The yahoo box score says their names are "Tom O'Neill, Rick O'Neill, Thomas O'Neill", were they a brother trio?
