Uh, they did not let him score. Give DSE more credit, he has pride and it was killing him that he couldn't check donovine.

PS. You didn't just use AAU as evidence of defensive prowess, did you? C' mon coach, you of all people knows nobody plays D in the summer.

My teams played D during the summer and my comment was about who he played against, and there were many bigger than your 6'1" example.......and I know they did not let DStew score, but the idea is to make sure he does not get any help in scoring..has nothing to do with pride it has to do with a defense you play to win...

I fear it is not going to get any better soon. Did you see JP play in high school. If he tried to guard anyone his coach would have had a heart attack, offense was always his forte. Same Even more so with Donovine.

Players are who they are, not that they can't get better and learn new skill sets but this doesn't happen overnight.

I am so sick of hearing Bruce Weber complain about his team not rebounding or scoring inside when all he recruits are perimeter, finesse players.

This iteration of BU basketball has revolved around a perimeter based four guard offense. That is the type of player we have gone after. If we are changing, fine, but we have to change our recruiting priorities as well.

Let's start by looking at teams that teach and emphasize defense and see if they have any kids.

What is the quote, "if you do what you have always done, you will get what you have always got."
If what you say is true then no college would ever go into Chicago and recruit players because most of them never play any defense, good coaches can teach defense and yes it takes time but with the right teacher it can be taught fairly quick, it is a lot easier then trying to teach a kid how to score.

As for Coach Brown's defense, yes, have seen it. Was at 2 Limestone games when Donovine torched DsE and the rest of the Panthers for 45 and, I think, 38 his soph year. I'm sure his defense was stifling against Dunlap though.
I would take the defensive fundametals taught by Tim Meiss (or any other coach in the Corn Belt Conference) over most coaches in ANY conference.

Has anyone ever noticed that Herzog does NOT announce the officials before the game?

I think that may be a policy of the MVC.

You know very well.... the BSS group is not "a few people." I think it has reached over 60 individuals and/or companies. ALL of those along with some top donors outside that group will be heard from the admin.

I think you are reaching when you use quotes like "entire fate of the basketball program."

I found a cell phone at the game last Saturday. Gave it to one of the officials. Had to belong to one of them, it had 15 missed calls.

it probably wasn't any one of those officials' phone, then...as they didn't miss many calls...

the cell phone that I found that had 40 excess calls and a few bogus calls was more likely theirs...

Chico, thats a good one. Old but good. I take it you didn't care for that trio. I had a guy this morning ,ask me if I thought they missed some calls. Sure they missed some calls, I've never seen a game where calls weren't missed. I will tell you one thing for sure. They didn't miss as many calls as we did shots or defensive assignments. That's why we lost not the refs.
