  • Miami and other NBA notes

Well the "star studded" Miami Heat just choked up a 19 point lead and lost by 2 points in OT to the 4-3 Utah Jazz. Moving Miami to an average 5-3.

So far Miami has slaughtered, Minnesota, New Jersey twice, Philly and Orlando. Combined record of 10-18

Miami has been beaten by Utah, Boston and New Orleans. Combined record of 17-5.

With the exception of Orlando, Atlanta and Boston, the East is still pretty weak. It's the West that is dominating as usual.

On a side note, the Pacers scored a whopping 54 points in the 3rd quarter tonight, making a whopping 20 of 21 shots. Scored 144 points overall against Denver.

To me after watching the entire Utah v Miami game is Utah is a deeper more quality team. Miami is fantastic if they were only playing 3 on 3. But because they have to run out guys like Joel Anthony, James Jones etc they are going to struggle on the interior all season.

They had zero answers for Utah in the lane and had absolutely no answer for Paul Milsap. Also, Utah won this game without Okur.

Miami is the perfect ESPN highlight team but if you watch them for 48 minutes they have HUGE holes on that team. They have incredible quickness on defense with James and Wade but when guys like Williams are equally quick and good it is going to make life hard on Miami when teams can and will expose them with getting the ball at the rim and in the lane.

There are several teams in the NBA quite a bit better then Miami. Id even venture to say in a series Chicago and Milwaukee would push and have a very good chance of beating Miami. Miami is not, right now elite. Miami is not a team, it is a made for ESPN highlight.

I don't think Miami will be whopping the 72-10 record this year.

Point of reference. At Christmas of 1995, the Chicago Bulls had only lost 2 games. They lost their 3rd game the day after.

Chris Bosh is soft. Wade and LeBron are both guys who don't do well without the ball in their hands. And their 4-12 is the worst in the league. Good luck going 1 and out in the playoffs, suckers.

Utah made another huge comeback tonight. Roared back from a 17 point deficit in the 2nd half to win by 10 points against Orlando.

Deron Williams had a little heated words with D. Howard after the game and refused to shake Howard's hand.

Lottery draft pick & Butler darling Gordon Hayward has seen his 20+ minutes per game the 1st 3 games, to barely 5 minutes the last 4 games ever since him and Deron Williams got into an argument about what Hayward was suppose to do on an offensive set. Hayward kept trying to plead his case to Williams but a teammate ended up pulling Hayward aside to let Williams cool down. He was playing some decent ball also, averaging about 9 points and 5 boards.

The amazing Utah Jazz just pulled off another big comeback tonight. 4th straight win and they have been down by 15+ points at the half in each game.
