the three guys who determined how our defense played were the total diference in this game..
We shoot 47% and go 7-19 on 3's, but they go to the line 41 times--
We have work to do but this game was ugly for more reasons than one..
has anyone thrown out the.....it was an exhibition "our players weren't hype enough" comment yet......it is standard but totally a possibly true statement.
if this happens on Friday then heck have a 30 page thread with everybody whining....
everyone needs to chill out. the season hasn't even begun.....i will hold my judgement till friday...and I am happy for Josh Edmonds.

I agree! If this happens in a game that actually affects our record, and I'm moving much closer to the edge of the cliff.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
1. It was only an exhibition, no excuses, but it was only that. Bradley has a lot to work on obviously, but I'm not at all ready to change my expectations because of an exhibition. I'm not very worried at this point.
2. Will Egolf has got to play better. Plain and simple. If the season started today I would not start him. He has had time to develop and get stronger in his career, and yet he still played weak and was bullied around by DII players. Also what was up with his shot selection??? An occasional perimeter shot is alright, but he was firing them up there every time.
3. This team needs SM. I think the difference is night and day in terms of energy and cohesiveness when he is leading us.
4. I think AW is a really good player, but I'm not sure he is the go to guy I thought he might be at one time. I definitely think when he is going he can carry the team for a while, and give us clutch 3's, but I still give the ball to SM or TB in crunch time at this point. Also I notice he got a tattoo this year, anyone know what it is of out of curiosity?
5. JP really impressed me, I can't believe how physical he looked in some of his first actual college action, refreshing to see that in the post!
6. JE just hustles. No guard goes to the offensive board like this guy. I have a feeling his hustle might just make a few bigs plays to win us a couple games down the stretch this year.
7. DSE is going to be a really good player. His athleticism was flat out impressive at times. WL looked pretty good tonight too for his first real game.
8. Good to see Dodie back, I think he will make a huge difference.
9. AT looks like he will hopefully provide at least something this year, but I don't think he will ever be what we once thought, if that was not clear before it is now.
10. Finally, I think more shots will fall for this team during the year. The shot forms and ball movement looked a little rusty, not quite crisp yet. I think this team will be fine, I see a lot of positive to take away. Better to learn these lessons now than later. It was also good to get some practice at a late game situation in an actual game.
My opening day starting lineup at this point (assuming everyone is healthy):

Egolf will start no question about it in my mind. Hope to see plenty of JP through out the season but Egolf has had a strong off season and will have a solid season for the Braves this year.
Based on what you guys saw last night, who are the guys "not buying in" on the defensive end?
Based on what I saw this is the same scrambling defense that leaves 3 point shooters wide open while giving inside help defense, I think Les is the one that just doesn"t get it as far as devising a good fundementally sound defense as the players have changed yet the defense looks the same(bad) , he needs help and also needs to realize that you cannot try to control everything on your own which is why every good program has asst. coaches helping with your game plan and also helping with the actual coaching during the game, he obviously is not a good defensive coach so he needs to turn those responsibilities over to someone else.
I thought the new hires would really help but it appears to be the same old story, I can do this on my own.
I have supported Les but if this bad play continues and this team does not contend I will vote for a change as the talent is here, no more excuses, just win.

I have no doubt he will start either, but based off what I saw in the exhibition he has to play better to me. I have not seen the whole off season of course, so just based off hear-say on here and mostly on the exhibition I was at I thought JP did a better job down low. WE could have just had a bad night though. I really hope he steps it up this year, I always have thought he has had great potential, but he has got to be stronger in the post. And let's limit his outside jumpers as well please!
WE needs to be good for this team to be as good as it can be IMO. So come on Will, here's to you stepping it up this year, I know you have the ability to do so!
