  • BU exhibition game vs. Quincy- Saturday 11/6 at 7:05pm

The Bradley men's team plays it's first open exhibition Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7:05 pm at the Bradley Renaissance Coliseum against the Quincy University Hawks.

This game is not part of the season-ticket package, and great tickets are still available. It will be broadcast on WMBD radio but I do not believe video streaming will be available.

Quincy has already played an exhibition game against SIU last Saturday. They lost 80-57 to the Salukis-

Quincy is picked 3rd in the North division of the GLVC in their preseason poll.

Quincy has one Peoria kid on the roster- senior Josh Edmonds.
    Quincy Roster-

Also, the BU women play their second exhibition game Saturday in the Bradley Renaissance Coliseum against Washington University of St. Louis, Missouri at 2:05 pm. The women's team won their opening exhibition game Monday against Quincy-
Bradley scored 52 second-half points and shot 50 percent from the field after the half to come from behind and top Quincy 90-80 in the exhibition opener for both teams Monday night at Renaissance Coliseum. Sophomore Katie Yohn (Elgin, Ill./York) paced the Braves with 23 points, while junior Latasha Hollingshed (Bellwood, Ill./St. Joseph/Illinois Central) added 13 points and 14 rebounds to help lead BU.

If we don't win by 25+, it would be a disappointment - even for a seemingly meaningless exhibition game. If our bench plays the whole game, we should beat them by at least 10.
Aside from the final score, I will interested in if we can:

    Cut down turnovers
    Rebound better
see improvement of WE, AT, MK
    sustain intensity for full game

I don't expect the margin to be near that big. Jim Les has shown in the past that he will not run up scores and embarrass opponents. Plus, with injuries and new players, I expect a lot of player combinations, and likely some sloppy play by Bradley.

So we should expect Quincy to be sharp and not play sloppy? If SIU won by 23, we should match that no matter which 5 we're playing IMO. No excuses.

Exactly, exhibitions are all about using different combinations, seeing which lineups play best together. I'd like us to look crisp and ready for the season but if we don't it's not a big deal at all.

I am not aware that Quincy will be playing without one of their leading scorers or their point guard. IMO, it will be a closer game.

Expecting a blowout is a sure fire way to be disappointed. I'm sure mot people don't care about the score of this game. Way too many "firsts" to have any real expectations. First game against someone else, first game for several players, etc. I'm sure the coaches have plans for experimenting with some things. I would caution you against having lofty expectations on the score. In fact, if it starts to get wild in our favor, I'd think Coach Les would put worse players in so at least someone can get better.

Now, if it was a real game, I might agree with you.

BU by 8 or 10.We will play a lot of players they will play only 7or 8. We will have a hard time getting a good flow of the game because of so many players going in and out.

I don't expect to see the starters log heavy minutes in this game. This is an opportunity for the coaches to experiment with different combinations and see what the bench/role players can do in a game situation.

I really don't care what the margin of victory is...

Agreed...SIU is going to be a doormat in the Valley this year. 10 different guys from their team played 12 minutes or more in the game against Quincy and they still blew them out.

With or without Sam, I see no reason that we shouldn't expect to completely outclass a mediocre D-II team like Quincy. Our 3rd and 4th options at PG would immediately become the 2 best players on Quincy's roster if they transferred there tomorrow...We've got depth in the backcourt and tons of experience on this year's roster, so I'd be shocked if we didn't win by 15 or 20 against them on Saturday night...

If some of you feel more comfortable going into this game expecting BU to struggle and the game to be close...umm, OK, to each his own, I suppose...but I don't see what you're seeing...

SIU might approach the game totally different than the way we approach the game. I am just saying I will put no credence into the final result, good or bad. Whether we win by 50 or lose by 3 means nothing to me. I hope we look good, I hope we play well, I hope we handle whatever Q throws at us. I also hope we are put into situations which make us better.

                        I guess we're seeing eye-to-eye here ER3.
I thought we just had a scrimmage vs. Iowa St., who I think would be a bit better than Quincy.
I don't expect us to have it all together on Sat., but these guys have played with each other a lot - even over the summer supposedly, and we should be bigger, stronger, quicker than Quincy. And if everybody buys into the defensive commitment it takes to win the Valley, we should hold them around 50 pts. Everyone should have fresh legs to give 100% on the defensive end.
o.k. - maybe it's not that big a deal to barely win vs. Quincy, but if it happens vs. Tex. A&M Kingsville too, I'll begin to wonder how good we really are.

With all the experience we have this game should be a blow out, I hope to see better inside play, better rebounding and much better defense , this is a warm-up before the start of the season and because we scrimmaged Iowa St on Sunday there is no reason why we should not be more prepared to play well in this game.
                          prediction:
                          BU 89
                          Quincy 62

This is my expectation too - maybe we don't score THAT many, and maybe it's true that with a bunch of substitutions & experimenting, we don't get into a great offensive flow.

Well...SIU had 10 different guys that played 12 minutes or more in the Quincy game...so it appears that they were approaching it with the intent of giving a lot of guys a chance to play...which is not much different than how I would expect us to approach the game...but we'll see.

I would agree that the actual margin of victory of this game isn't going to be something that we should but putting a huge amount of stock in...good or bad...I just don't understand why so many people seem to be going into this game expecting us to struggle, expecting this game to be close...We should have a better player at all 5 positions on the floor at every moment of this game, regardless of the player combinations that we use...so I don't expect this one to be close, unless we decide to play Andrew Davis and a bunch of walkons for 30 minutes in this game...
