The problem is with any type of foot injuries playing on a hard court makes it even worse, I think Sam is going to experience pain the rest of his basketball life and sometimes he will be able to play thru it while other times it will be too sore for him and he will need time off, at least we have capable replacements when he needs to sit out.

As I said before SM will play limited minutes this year and probably play a bit more of off guard. He shoots a ton better anyway when he can set his shot. I prefer a rested SM for March anyway, when it counts. We have the players in the back court so SM does not have to play hurt. I'm not worried, he'll be there when we need him. Although, guard depth is not a problem for BU. I honestly think BU should be able to go w/o Sammy and win games. When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

Without SM, I think this team would be extremely lucky to get 4th.

I've been worrying about this a lot. Sam brings a ton to the table and will be one of our stars if he's playing. I'm a big DSE fan, but those would be enormous shoes to have to fill. Sam is tough so I'm sure he'll be doing his best to put it all out there on the court every night. However, I keep thinking back to the beginning of last season when he was struggling because his ankle(s?) just wasn't there for him. I'll be pulling for him all season to be able to have a big senior year so he can conclude an excellent Bradley career.

Does it make us worse if he is limited? Yes. But I have confidence in the supporting cast (no pun intended).
I don't necessarily tone down my expectations of being in the running for the conference title. People need to step up. It's hard to say right now because we don't even know how good we are. All talk at this point, except for those who saw us against Iowa State.
I suspect that the more quality minutes we can get out of the other guards, the better Sammy will be when he is in there, if that makes any sense.

amckillip this is why I made the bet with you. We have a bit of depth to play SM less and to keep him healthy and fresh when we need him most."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."
