I doubt the Valley will give the awards this week, since only a couple of Valley teams have played, and
even then they've only played exhibitions...so I will fill in and suggest who should get the awards this week........
Only SIU, Evansville, and Missouri State have played public exhibitions..
POW: My POW goes to a very deserving Carlton Fay! This kid works hard, is often asked to play out of position and with greedy and selfish teammates, yet is always a steady producer..
In the SIU exhibition against Quincy, Carlton was 5-6, grabbed 6 rebounds, had 3 assists and a steal and played good defense.
Other finalists would have included Gene Teague of SIU and MSU's Jarmaine Mallett.
As bad as Evansville played, I didn't really consider anyone from their team for either award...and I would have put Taylor Brown into this category except the results of BU's scrimmage are super-secret.
NOW: Freshman Nathan Scheer of Missouri State had a nice game vs. Upper Iowa, scoring 12 pts. off the bench and grabbing 3 rebs and handing out 4 assists.
Runnerup is SIU's juco junior transfer Mamadou Seck who came off the bench with 6 pts, 5 rebs, and a blocked shot.
There are a few more exhibitions this week........
