  • Paris Gulley

Paris is returning to Southern Community College (Iowa) for his sophomore season, and he got honorable mention All District his freshman seaosn there..

But note this -- he's being billed this season as 6-1 -- so did he grow at least 2-3 more inches, or is he being "helped" by their SID??

Paris' averages last year -- he was the top scoring freshman on their squad -
    8.7 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 77% FT shooting, 44% 3-pt shooting (49-112)

so is he a D-I candidate??
Here is a current article -- nice coverage -- especially for a junior colleg...

Without shoes on, he was measured at 5'11 1/2", in the Spring of 2008. I've seen him listed at anywhere between 5'11 to 6'2 since he was a Senior at Manual, so 6'1 is not much of a stretch (no pun intended).

Whether or not he's a D-1 recruit......I have no idea. All it takes is one team to take notice of him and he did have one D-1 offer in the Spring of 2009 (Eastern Kentucky).

Paris Gulley is having a good year at Southeastern Community College...
I hafta think Coach Mo is still keeping an eye on him..

After 8 games, he's averaging 13.3 ppg and shooting 55% on 3-pt attempts..
They play 9-1 Lincoln College tonight

Regardless of his height, I believe hie's a low D1 prospect....he'd be a nice fourth guard for a team like Western...

Easy on the directional schools after last night. I'm pretty sure Mo's boys would give BU all they want.

basing it strictly off of his jr. and sr. in hs., yes he's a D1 talent. good ball handler and shoots well off the dribble. if i'm a mid-major, i'm looking at him hard.

Based on his shooting alone hes better than anyone we have (minus Warren)

I dunno if he's what we'd be looking for but we have enough "athletes" and not enough "shooters"...

I really am starting to feel like this is a carbon copy of what Mo's teams looked like...

Players with great character, graduation rates, and leapers and track stars, but don't know how to dribble, make layups, pass the ball, or just get it in the hoop!

Just a note to give some props to Paris Gulley -- who has had a tremendous run in the Regionals and has carried his team (Southeastern CC, Iowa) to the NJCAA Division I Naitonal Championships March 15-19 in Hutchinson, KS

Paris is their leading scorer ar 13.3 ppg, but handles the ball, shoots 90% on FTs, and hits 47% on 3-pointers, only 1 TO/gm

Also -- Bloomington's D'Mitri Riggs also led his team, Wabash Valley CC to the National Championships, and he's hitting 13.8 ppg & 48% from 3-pt range.

                    Thanks for the update Tornado!

Any idea if he's getting looks from D1 schools?

I know Coach Molinari liked Paris but doubted his physique would withstand D-I ...so I know Mo wanted to see Paris get bigger and stronger...
I wouldn't be surprised if Mo is still in touch but no word officially...

Here's Paris on SICC's web site...he has bulked up a bit and is listed as 6-2 !!!!!
I would like to see that, and he was considerably under 6-ft in high school!!

That's great news! It sounds like UW-M will use him as a combo-guard.

Three former Rams will be playing D-1 basketball this fall:

                          Paris Gulley - UW-M
                          Lawrence Alexander - NDSU
                          Marvin Jordan - Niagara

I know UW-M was also looking at Jeff White and Jacoby Roddy, but I don't know if either received offers. Jeff has a number of D1 offers while Jacoby was reportedly offered by SIU.
