BU does not play it's exhibition game until Nov. 6, but a few Valley schools start sooner...likewise Drake doesn't play until Nov. 6, Wichita & ISU don't play 'til Nov. 10.

    Here are the earlier exhibitions...
This Saturday, Oct. 30 - SIU hosts Quincy in their new renovated arena, and Evansville hosts DePauw
Sunday, Oct. 31 - Missouri State plays Upper Iowa
Next Tuesday, Nov. 2 - UNI plays Wartburg & Indiana State plays Rose-Hulman
Next Thursday, Nov. 4 - Creighton hosts Northern State

    UNI beat Wartburg 67-46..drawing 3660...
Kwadzo Ahelegbe led with 15 pts, and Anthony James with 10 was the only other Panther in double figures.
The game was only a 6 pts game at half, and UNI didn't open a double digit lead until the game was in the final 10-12 minutes..so playing a lot of players plenty of minutes cost in productivity...

UNI's big men, Jake Koch & Lucas O'Rear -- both started and were among the leaders in minutes player -- yet the two combined for just 10 pts, and 8 rebs against a far smaller and weaker team... so will that be a problem for them this season..

UNI's newcomers and subs did not score as well as the starters...
    Chip Rank - 4 pts
    Nate Buss - 1 pt
    Matt Morrison - scoreless
    Marc Sonnen - 2 pts
    Max Martino - 2 pts
In fact the ten players who played off the bench as subs in the game totalled
100 minutes (half the game) and only 27 pts with Anthony James getting 10 of those

Indiana State beat the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology "Engineers" 83-44 in front of a good crowd of 4636 -

The Sycamores were really never challenged, they opened up with a 10-0 run and never looked back..zooming to 18-2, then 29-10, then 49-20, 69-28, then from that point, when InSU has a 41 point lead...
Rose-Hulman played pretty even over the final 10 minutes or so -- outscoring the Sycs 16-14 in the final 1/4 of the game
Halftime was 37-17...and final scoring had only Dwayne Lathan was in double figures at 14 pts, and all five starters combined for 11-23 but only four assists, suggesting a lot of wide open play and shooting...
Jake Kelly was 2-3, 8 pts, 3 rebs as a starter, and it's hard to say much else, as Rose-Hulman was so weak (NCAA D-III, 7-18 last year), that Indiana State went with subs for 127 of the 200 minutes played!

Here's even more on other exhibitions...
Valley Exhibitions UNI beat Wartburg 67-46..drawing 3660... Kwadzo Ahelegbe led with 15 pts, and Anthony James with 10 was the only other Pa...

      Some Wednesday night scores

      Indiana over Franklin 89-37
      ...Watford 25, Creek 16, Matt Roth 15 minutes, 1-2 3 pts, 1 reb, 1 asst
..center Guy Marc Michel did not play - his eligibility is being disputed by NCAA because of participation on French pro teams, and it's the exact same situation as John Wilkins -- let's see if they treat the player the same given that this kid is at Indiana instead of BU...
      Florida over Georgetown College 88-62
      Florida St. over Rollins 95-74
      Tennessee over Brevard 91-42

In looking at the boxscore he only shot 3's??? Great percentage, but think it's odd to have a 6'10" forward shooting only 3's.

Austin Hill was 4 for 4 from three-point range for ISU. Two of them were bank shots. He said he works on that kind of shot. "I might be more comfortable shooting off the glass because I have a pretty solid touch." Yeah, right.

I know he had one dunk that came out of a nice press break. All his 3s were in rhythm and were good looks. He was moving around working for the ball and took good shots. Wasn't expecting much from him, but after seeing him the play I see what had ya'll so excited.

His defense was surprisingly good too. Long arms stayed in the passing lanes and he had a nice block. Looked real good when he helped with a trap near half court.

You know, the interesting part of this news, is that this kid just completed TWO full years of junior college ball...
and yet it is being revealed that he has the exact same profesional background as John Wilkins, having played as a junior on the senior pro teams in France...

So it clearly begs the question -- how was the NJCAA so incredibly stupid as to not know that??
Or did they know it and yet go ahead and allow Michel to play his full two years of junior college anyway??
Either answer shows an inconsistency or corruption that is evident when they totally denied John Wilkins junior college eligibility and cost him and entire full year!
this exposes the NJCAA as capricious and arbitrary in how they levy their penalties and quesitons their motives in hammering Wilkins so hard ..

Apparently, the solid touch Hill is referring to, is the touch of a blacksmith!

No need for JW to be inside and rebound if he can rain and drain 3's from the outside.

Now, if he isn't inside and rebounding when other Redbirds clang one up to the rim, or, doesn't mix it up on the defensive boards.....

FWIW, I believe he's an AP voter for college basketball. Not that it means much, but I would think he sees a fair amount of basketball throughout the year. Pretty good for a smaller town newspaper.
