If those guys are truly ready to contribute on a nightly basis, the outlook of our season changes dramatically IMO.

It was a poorly advertised Sunday night event, even MVC games on Sundays don't draw, as everyone on here (I believe including you) has noted...

Yeah....we already know some Bradley fans would rather watch football on television than go to a regular-season game. Why would they bother going to an intra-squad scrimmage? I was disappointed in the number of students that didn't come out to support their teams!

First of all the red-white use to be a 40 minute game, I think if you play only 20 minutes with the clock running people will not come, I know there are probably 50 to 75 great student fans that attend regularly but to have so few in attendance on their own campus speaks for itself; now as far as my observation on the scrimmage;
DSE,J.E; D.D;W.L; J.P; played well, A.T. looked better, A.W. was ok, Milos looked slow and overmatched .
W.Lemon is a great defensive player and is very skilled at handling the ball , he just needs to not force shots, J.P. has great hands and seems to be ready to help this team off the bench, A.Davis has some good skills and could also help this team this year so I see no reason to redshirt him, I think we missed several shots that we normally will make because of fatigue and I guess it was because we practiced today, the thing I liked the best was we played tougher and were really mixing it up, look forward to the Quincy game.
ps. I thought our asst. coaches were all involved in the coaching process which we need and was different then the last several years.

I agree with all of this (except that the clock was not "running" for the men's scrimmage). I loved seeing Platt yelling at the guys that were on the floor and tugging on AT's jersey in the huddle as if he was his own project.

Why would they charge $10 for a 20 minute scrimmage when they only charge $8 for upper bowl regular season games? Makes no sense.

It was a 50-minute scrimmage.....30 for the women and 20 for the men. I have a feeling it could've/would've been 30 for the men if we had more bodies available. There was only one sub available for the men all night.

So are you saying he'll be getting starter minutes? Or are you saying he'll be further down the bench?

I thought he played very fundamentally sound and have heard so many people talk about his lack of speed, but really never noticed any such thing. I think the year off did wonders for JP and would like to see AD do the same. He can practice with the team, put on some size & if for some reason injuries require, he can always do a JE and start playing. I just think it will be hard for him to get any meaningful minutes this season.

If JP looks like that after one summer with Coach Wright I can't imagine what he will look like in his senior year.

Agreed. I think JP runs the floor very well and has always had good hands. Now he has a D-I body to go along with those. My son told me "I can't believe that's the same guy we saw a couple years ago (at the TOC in Washington)". I'd love to see JP starting alongside WE and TB before the season's over.

I agree. I have seen some comments on this thread regarding Prosser coming off the bench. Hell, I think Prosser should be in the starting lineup Will JP make some freshman mistakes adapting to division 1? yes.... but I think that JP has a higher basketball IQ than a lot of recruits that I have seen at BU for a long time.... we should be tailoring a starting lineup around JP at the 5 and WE at the 4. If Tb has developed any kind of outside shot, then the outlook changes as Bradleybrave posted.

Walter Lemon needs to work on his outside shot! That is the one glaring weakness in his game.

If Milos does not progress from what he did last night, I think that a redshirt should be considered for him. Milos needs to work with Crouch to improve his game!

I don't watch women's basketball. Thus it was a 20 minute scrimmage. Also I won't be attending the W Bradley-Butler game. If I had known the format of the red-white game, I wouldn't have gone.

The format of the past Bradley Red-White games, and those of nearly all D1 schools involes both men's and women's teams. It was clearly stated in all the releases by Bradley and in the articles in the PJ Star.
I know there are some fans who only care about the men's team, but Bradley, like most schools always tries to treat the women's team equally.

Perhaps in the spirit of equal opportunity, BU could alternate Women first, Men first, in future Red-White Scrimmage events. Folks who can't bear the thought of spending a few minutes watching the women's team first could come and go for just the men's scrimmage every other year...

People wanted a Red-White scrimmage, so Bradley gave them what they wanted. Before attacking the idea of the event on a Sunday PM realize that that was the only reasonable time and day to have it. They didn't pick the Sunday night out of the air. First, the Red-White scrimmage is officially defined as a practice by the NCAA rules, and thus, the players are not allowed to miss schoolwork or classes for it. That essentially ruled out any week night, since several players have classes, and would have had to miss the scrimmage. And besides, if they had held it on a weeknight, there probably would have been complaints about that, too.
And note that the Volleyball team had scheduled home conference matches on both Friday night, Oct. 22 (Creighton) and Saturday, Oct. 23 (Drake- though this match was moved to Sunday noon because of the funeral for Phil kaiser). Those games are scheduled by the MVC and take priority over a men's BB practice. That meant that the scrimmage could not be scheduled for this past Friday or Saturday. And next weekend, Bradley is playing an important closed scrimmage against Iowa State at the Arena, so that ruled out next weekend, as the team was not going to play on back-to-back days. And, of course, the following weekend Bradley plays Quincy in an exhibition game, ruling out that weekend. Plus, people would have complained anyway if the Red-White wasn't scheduled until that late.

So please realize Bradley does try to schedule these events considering what is best for the fans, and they do a great job. However, fans must realize some of the circumstances that go into the decision. Yesterday's date and time was the best available time for this event.

That's your choice, but it doesn't change the fact that the $10 charge was for more than just the 20-minute men's scrimmage. Just curious.....what would people have been saying if they played a 30-40 minute scrimmage with just 11 players and one or two got injured? Maybe that would have been worth $10.

I realize that these events are scheduled way in advance, but why not have the Volleyball game for 2pm on a given Saturday and have the red/white scrimmage set for 6pm for the future? People have to multi-task on their daily jobs and I don't see why this can not be done in the future.

They are saying 1700.....ok IF "they" say so. Most I talked to said 1200 but EITHER way I really expected 3000.

Went with a few newbies to the arena...equally impressed as I was the first time. Reminds me of a smaller (newer and cleaner) Tulsa arena.

As much as I HATE the idea of a game there leaving fans out a soldout arena with another 750-1000 SRO on the concourse would be wickidly loud.....

Dogsrus. . .a regular season game (given the type of opponent that would be played in the gym) would only draw marginally better than the scrimmage last night, bad day and time aside.
