Yesterday, Wed. 10/20, was Big East Media Day-
Pitt was picked #1, and DePaul was a distant 16th and last place pick-
what is a bit of a surprise is that St. John's was picked 6th, with one voter picking them to finish #1 (that voter was reported to be Rick Pitino)! Steve Lavin is a good coach and a great recruiter, though he hasn't got any significant new recruits there yet, and St. Johns finished 6-12 in the Big East last year, and in 13th place. So IMO, they don't justify being picked that high.
BTW- Rutgers new head coach Mike Rice is disappointed his team was picked 15th (out of 16) in the preseason poll. He was hoping to be picked dead last! He is hoping to play the underdog role this year.-
