You really think so Ben...when I wasn't a message board geek/freak the story he just wrote was what I lived off of....and for the casual fan its the info they are looking for.

They are not going to write for the members of this board, they are going to write for the other 99% of Bradley fans. I myself also like hearing it from a reporter at practice, not some goofy fan seeing a player walk into One World or whatever.

Why does everything have to have a negative spin? It's a fantastic article and BB starts bringing up "Detractors" and you try to slant it so it is not good coverage. How about enjoying the article instead of going back to our old sides of the same argument that will never be solved?
I think DR does a good job covering the Braves. Maybe there's a reason, but how come this was a blog and not printed in the JS. Not all of the "99%" have blog capabilities. Remember now fans, if you report on seeing a BU player outside of practice, you are a "goofy fan".
What part of illegal don't you understand?

I agree that they shouldn't be writing for the fans that frequent the internet on an hourly, daily, or even weekly basis. However, I'm not quite sure why "the detractors" were mentioned where it concerns a Dave Reynolds article. I don't believe he is the one people have a problem with and one of the common problems with the PJS has more to do with the frequency of any Bradley reporting. I enjoyed the article, mostly because it gave the "commoners" something about this year's Bradley basketball team and not just asking the "commoners" how hot JL's seat is.

Yeah.....like John Wilkins committing to Iowa State.

I think he was trying to make a point about rumor, etc., because the "goofy fan" who wrote that started a thread about running into MK at a wedding.

Personally I'll take any BU info! I like the DR article because it confirms the info I'm getting on here from all the other goofy fans!!

Good article, cannot expect too much detail in that there were only 2 practices, I will have a better understanding of our team once I see the red-white and Quincy games, extra lbs. and muscle are great if you also get better toughness and skills to go with them.

What do you guys expect this time of year? Let it go. DR seems to be a real honest reporter with no hidden agenda. Could they do a bit more. Sure but we have a few more weeks before the season begins, so what the heck is the rush. I guess some of you can never be satisfied.

Come on....We can be satisfied. Who are you and where are you coming from????? I only commented that I did not believe that DR's report was "fantastic". And, yes he could have reported a lot more. He saw 2 and a half practices and all he could comment on was that a few players were larger in size. And no, I do not think that he has a hidden agenda (drama???). He just did a very minimum job of reporting on the practices. He could have done much much better. Isn't that one part of his job to report on Bradley basketball? He had an opportunity that most of us do not have...he attended the practices. Very simple...did he report on those practices..almost nothing. You call that fantastic reporting or asking for a rush job on his reporting. No. Just good reporting which he did not provide imo.

He talks mainly about the size growth. He says almost nothing about how well the players played, with the only exception being WL. You have got to be kidding....fantastic?

And if they didn't practice well and reported it then he's negative.....it wasn't fantastic but I'm curious what he could have written that would have been "fantastic" for the first couple of practices

nobody's asking that...but just give people what they want...and I will tell you what a few Bradley fans just told me.....

the vast majority of god Bradley fans are still wondering who we have this year, and what's the team going to be like..
I happened to bump into two different friends yesterday morning, both are long time season ticket holders, they talk basketball and especially Bradley basketball all the time, and they both know me to be a big BU fan and consider me a good reference to get the answers they want on BU basketball.
both have loved basketball for decades and been big BU fans...and are always wanting to know more about Bradley -- so both asked me to give them more info after reading the coverage of the Hoopla yesterday.
(***note that the PJS does this weird thing where some of their coverage is mentioned in the paper but it is not in there, it is only in the blog that many people don't know how to find and aren't inclined to search for)

--who were BU's new players (that blog entry and column in the paper named only one - Lemon)
--who did BU lose from last year (recall, virtually every off-seaosn we lose not just guys who graduate but one or two other players like Eddren last year & Darian Norris before that)
--what does everyone else in the Valley have (one guy thought Creighton still had P'Allen)
--when's the first game? (remember - nobody has their season tickets in their possession so unless reminded or see it in the paper, they don't know the schedule!)
--who do we play early on (when I mentioned the tourney and Duke, USC, Utah, etc...then they had a little bit of vague memory come back to them but since none of this about Duke and the non-conference slate has been in the paper since last summer -- but people are salivating to hear this and salivating to get to the part of the year when they start going to games & they just don't know this stuff!
(of course it also gave me a chance to hype the message board but a lot of folks just don't spend time on their computer like we do)
--and the single thing almost everyone asks, and it isn't hard to figure out given the only coverage BU seems to ever get...
they ask "is Les going to make it through the season or is he going to be fired?"
seriously...these are good fans -- long time season ticket holders -- and they don't know who we have, they don't know the new players, they don't know a thing about the Valley, and they don't even have a good grasp on when the games start and who we have in the early going for opponents.
I don't expect the PJS to be Bradley's publicity agent, but I am just telling you what some people think ought to be in the newspaper.

So do you think the reason they ask about Les and being fired is because of the coverage of the PJ Star?

So what makes them good fans? The fact that they are long-time season ticket holders? The fact that they donate money?

I'm pretty sure the PJS does a pretty full story on BU MBB every fall, including the upcoming Valley season, and other teams in the Valley, a little closer to the start of the season - mid Nov? It might even be a special section which also includes U of ILL and other local college info. Rosters, player bios, pics, schedule, season outlook etc....

I suppose people could quibble about the timing of the publication of this info by the PJS, who want this info as soon as practice starts in Oct. PJS has to balance coverage of BU MBB with MLB, NFL, Hockey, HS Football as well.

Not that anyone on this Forum ever quibbles about anything BU MBB or the PJS..................
