I'll add as the day goes on but I'll start with how wonderful the event went last nite. Firstly, and most importaint, we raised $$$ for local youth sports. So anything else is gravy....

Bruce and Jim were "on" their game, the panel of Wessler, Reynolds and special guest Supinie (sp) the Illinois beat writer were all in attendance and did a great job also.

I don' think you'll see much in the paper about it becuase as the Co-Chair Pat S. explained that ONE of the goals every year is to keep it low keyed and somewhat "off the record" so the coaches could feel free to vent, say whats on their mind and have some fun without worry about cameras and quotes the next day.Neither coach dissapointed....

As I stated this is the start of Mens hoops in Central Illinois for many fans and that thought was repeated by many in attendance last nite.

Keep your eyes open for a Great poster/advertisement provided by (and I can't think of the name right now) with both coaches and schedules. Its a classic with some great photoshop touches done.

Several posters in attendance so if they want to add anything please do....

Bradleyfans.com was the first thing discussed as the Q and A portion started....I'll expand more later.

Spoke with Wessler before he started mcing and alls I'll say is refer to his post on the other board to clear up or explain where he stands. He also told me he wants to do more BU stories but since Liess was let go awhile back he has been sports editor and has been very busy getting the sports department running how HE feels it should be and is, again, very busy with his new duties. Once things start running smoothly look for more reports.

OK...gotta do SOME work but I will add as the day goes on.

Look for Will Egolf updates (very exciting news) and Walt Lemon tidbits......talk about Duke, the Valley, scheduling and much much more....

Did you ask him about this obvious lie?

Surely you asked him about the global conspiracy that controls the paper and forces them to only print negative things about BU, right?

Just joking....thanks for the 411 dogs.

I know you are being facetious, but in my work, I see and talk to Bradley fans every day. Many of them are among the older population of long-time fans, and many are longtime season-ticket holders. Maybe it's hard for some to believe, but a lot of these folks do not own a computer, or use it only for email. They know I am a Bradley fan, and one thing I constantly hear is that these people are starving for information about this year's team. They ask me to fill them in on new players, returning players, new coaches, injuries, upcoming events, and games on the schedule, as well as what to expect from the other 9 MVC teams. Anyone who thinks the local media is giving this large population of people the information they crave about Bradley is just out of touch with reality. People like us don't need this info, as we can usually get it from websites like this. It is one reason sites like this are so popular. But there are still a lot of people who can't get enough of this information.

Will Egolf....up to 240 pounds and dominating practice. JL stated last year, fresh off the injury he was finishing with layups, now he's finishing everything with dunks.

Walt Lemon made a move in practice JL said he wants to review on the tape becuase he STILL can't believe. He was near the three point line, split 2 defenders and bang was at the hoop with the layup......

Duke.....nothing magical about securing this game. The staff just makes calls...alot of them until someone responds. We actually had a home date open for that and I THINK a team ready...he put it up for a vote and it was unanimous...they wanted Duke vs a home game.

          More to come..

Having Egolf stronger and closer to 100% this year with the knee would be a great boost to our chances...that's good to hear...

Too bad we couldn't get Kenny Lawson in here for a week of practice to see how Will stacks up against him...Dominating the rest of our post players in practice isn't exactly a "resume builder", by any stretch.

I do not doubt some people who go to BU games do not know the players. But, I would think most of the fans do know the players.

I do think the PJStar does a good job of covering the Braves.

I do NOT think there is some master plan to keep fans in the dark at the PJStar.

Exactly, we've heard the 'dominating' quote in years past and it mostly meant our returning so-so post player was better than other options. I would much rather hear that WE is vastly improved, but is getting dominated by JP or AD.

Although, I do really like hearing about a post player that likes to dunk. Not because dunks are emotionally satisfying, but because strong dunkers usually want the ball, and know what to do with the ball when they fight for it. Dunking was the first indication that POB was going to be better than what we saw from past teams.

Agreed.....So many recent players have not be able or willing to finish strong. On nights when refs are letting people play, that is a bad thing.

I would also appreciate any nuggets from Weber regarding the Illini. Thanks in advance!

                        Debbie Downer....

Yeah I agree the proof is in the pudding but WE was soft last year and the leg had to factor into it. It was good to here he has more explosivness....

JL also stated the guys must put their fingerprint on to open the practice fllor doors...he has access to all that enter...after some spying was pleased to report guys are coming in at 7-8-9 pm to either hangout in the lounge with their girlfriends OR take extra shooting practice...he believes its the latter.

Wessler asked Bruce if Vegas was why the Majors don't want the mids. Weber, being a good sport, said that game most likley kept them out of the NCAA's. He stated that the loss the nite before after a 17 point lead really killed em. Bruce had his middle finger taped from some sort of accident and he said everytime a BU fan gave him Cr@p about the L he showed em his sore finger (and demonstrated it).

I asked IF we would ever see a AT at the 5 with WE at the 4...he said we could but then started talking about options....we have alot of options with all the guards. Draw your onw conclusion. He mentioned Prosser earning some time and we could see Andrew down low moving TB to the wing...all nite I thought AW down low. Now I realize he was probably talking about the NEW kid.

He said this team is very tight and all of them stayed around all summer to work on their games. He said the maturity is really showing but that he told them just having 4 or 5 22 y'o guys on the team doesn't automatically mean we will win.

Likes WSU, CU and MSU (and us) at the top.

Thanks for the "smoke signals" DRU. Good stuff.....

Hopefully the procamations coming from the Hill this preseason are indeed observations and predictions/opinions of BU players vs future Valley competition and not just vs BU players!

Was there some talk about another closed scrimmage vs another team for BU this year? A chance to guage BU players vs outside competition....

I used to do that on the other board...I thought I would focus on BU first and will throw out some BW/Illini stuff soon.

BAM is great though I will tell you that. He is funny in a dry way and everyone there enjoys him.
