In the last 24 hours, the blotter has been active....
Highly touted Oklahoama State freshman, Gary Flowers was kicked off the team after his 2nd arrest for marijuana, he has received a "deferred sentence".
This means if he stays clean, his record could be wiped clean and leaves open the possibility the talented freshman could rejoin the team.
3 separate Southern Miss football players were arrested in separate assaults
UConn just dismissed 5 players after their arrestes for illegal purchase and underage drinking of alcohol.
Four of the players had prior drug and alcohol arrestes!!!!
2 Ball State football players arrested for stealing laptops
USC wide receiver was arrested for theft (South Carolina)
Bizarre case, a man arrested in Ohio for numerous violations, fraud, theft, claimed to be the uncle of ex-Bulls player Ron Harper. Of course he was lying.
Several Northern Colorado football players arrested in the past few days, in regards to at least two different fights/attacks.
This is their inaugural year in Division I---- they should fit in just fine!
More Virginia Tech arrests
If the college kids can get away with it, then the next obvious thing that'll happen is that high schoolers will give it a try....uh,oh, they already are
White Sox shortstop Juan Uribe is a suspect in a shooting
University of Miami president Donna Shalala (ex-Clinton era Cabinet member) appeared on TV, emphatically shaking her fist and bellowing about how strict she is going to be with the Miami football players involved in an on-field brawl Saturday.
She is proclaiming her "zero tolerance" stance and claiming "Miami athletes simply can never fight again, she said. Miami officials have enacted a new rule that any athlete who fights will be dismissed from that team"
----so just what punishment did all those Miami players get from Ms. Shalala for the one of the worst brawls in recent memory? If youp saw the incident, a conservative estimate is that at least 30 Miami players were involved, and about as many FIU players.
At Miami, tho...
12 players got one-game suspensions, one got an indefinite suspension, none got the zero tolerance" treatment or dismissal from the team, and the rest got NOTHING.
Talk is cheap.....some believe Shalala's actions are part of the problems.
(by the way, Miami plays Duke this Saturday.
Duke is 0-6 and is horrible, they have been shut out 3 times)
