They've pretty much been average in the modern era. Why would the last several years cause any different reaction than the 30 before it?

That includes the local paper. There may have been "well, given the druthers. . .McClain is the obvious choice" type piece written, but that's because nobody thought BU, well, I'll just stop.

It simply can't be painted that all non-JL supporters wanted McClain. That's just not true.
I didn't say that, did I I happen to agree with you here on the this issue BUT, there was, as T posted, MANY articles that leaned that direction
in the PJS My statement was made in disagreement to what T said about the PJS being the only people/thing that could influence the hiring/firing of any BU coach A sports writer/reporter has this much clout I don't think so That wouldn't say much for the highly educated people who actually do the hiring/firing that run our college's and university's
As for the JL hiring over WM, it is my opinion, that if WM had been any other coach than a local successful black high school coach, there would
never of been a issue As there was 6 better choices at the time then both JL and WM My choice would of been the same as BB, BG

I'd say he darn near stuck up for KW, almost directly singling out some posters who go after KW and the PJ Star regularly! And yes, he got people talking and dare I say taking an interest in the team during a slow period. I'm glad someone gets it.

I know I sure don't get it. I guess you must be thinking on a "higher level" than me BB.

Haha, comments like these crack me up. You say other guys spin. Explain, how coach singled anyone out? Did he send another tweet with a name? Please elaborate?

The press has "the right to free speech and freedom of the press".... but don't anyone openly disagree with the press and go after the press or anyone in the press.

                    • I have always taken the Squirrel approach...I think he says..."I support the local sherriff". Never had a preference for the BU coach. All bring various pluses and minuses.

I support JL 100% and hope like heck we win big this year....but I won't hesitate to voice my displeasure with certain aspects of the program.

Its like living in America...wouldn't go anywhere else but we, as a nation, certainly have scars.

and don't think that this kind of unconditional loyalty goes unnoticed...it's the kind of support and loyalty that doesn't notice the scars..
Maybe a new coach wouldn't know who all of BU's best and most loyal fans are..but after he's been here a few years, Coach Les is smart enough and has a good enough memory to know exactly who are the fans....
...and it says he is aware of what is being said on the message boards, and he does "apprc support"

                          "U haters" = High road?

'Hate'/'Hating'/'Haters' are incendiary words that are overused today and should be reserved for much more serious topics/situations. Like the word 'disrepect', which causes me to throw up when I hear it in the context of sports, hate/hating/haters should be banned from sports discussions.

No one "hates" anyone with respect to BU MBB. No one "hates" JL. Some are not happy/satisfied with the results BU has had under JL, and, are open to change. PERIOD. Would I be happy for JL if he has more success at BU? Certainly.

Should I have called my former boss a "hater" when he gave me a less than desirable, or deserved in my opinion, performance review when I was working?

Public performance reviews come with the territory in sports, whether playing, coaching, or in ownership. JL is not volunteering for local rec league slow pitch softball. He is being compensated quite well to do what he is doing, and is not a volunteer. I am assuming the compensation assumes some level of success at the job one is doing.

Can't believe JL would be so naive to think college coaches would get unconditional love and loyalty from fans/administration in the absence of winning something.

I am sure if/when JL can not stand the heat anymore, he will get out of the kitchen.

As they say in the mob, its not personal....

ps the BU 'card girl' is Cameron Diaz...she was helping promote a car wash fundraiser in LA....Found the photo while verifying it was her in avatar pic in the car wearing next to nothing (IMHO one of the hottest pics ever on this Forum)....'Card Girl' retires later this afternoon when my wife returns from her trip to LA - I go back to my "Spike" avatar

I wouldn't say scars should go unnoticed. I would say they should not be accentuated out of proportion or dwelled upon.

Wow...so much common sense. Very well said. WHEN will some understand that we can all view performances with varying degrees of success/failure yet have the same goals and interests in mind.

                              GREAT post.
