I am not a guy that wants to see JL go but BU has a lot going for it now and its time to become a MVC power year in and year out. Why cant we be the next Butler or Gonzaga?

      * We are told we now have one of the best facilities for the players in the country.
      * We have almost 11,000 fans at every home game (how many mid majors have that?)
      * We have one of the best educational reputations in the midwest.
      * We have tradition.
      * We have a great home game facility.
      * There is home grown talent in the Peoria area and you are sandwiched in between St Luis and Chicago.

I thought the facilities where the last reason for us not getting to the level we all wanted but thats fixed. We have everything going for us now, JL needs to make it happen in the next two years.

and those fine facilities now can afford the head coach.

However, having said that, some of the powers that be, seem ever willing to dump coaches we have, even ones that are doing well, and cast a fishing line out hoping for better. That might work in track or golf -- but it isn't likely to work in D-I basketball....
I can agree with you T on these two statements as far as there is NO major fall backs/outs in this years season
I totally agree that if Jimmy had not taken BU to that sweet 16 and got the money for it, BU's new facilities would not be nothing other then a set of blueprints in a file draw, marked under wish full dream projects, NO MONEY And lets not forget for one moment that this new facilities benefits all BU sports, their athletes, as well as the student body and BU events as well as the mens BB program So President Glasser, (with her yes man/ax man at her side"Dr. Cross) can try to take credit for the new facilities but in reality Jimmy did much more to make this happen way before they came to BU With that being said, viewing Pres. Glasser's road map with athletic departments, ADs and coach's, Jimmys destination may not be in his hands, no matter how good this season turns out As for KW, I don't think he is a BU or JL hater and no matter what he writes, who he plays golf with, will have a direct input to Jimmy future, good or bad

Well said...JL has done everything well except win. Time to move past the mediocrity....NOW is the time.

Is that the same board run by the local rag, moderated by many ISU fans, and where KW posts?

Haha, you guys act like its so easy. Creighton was everything you guys want. You don't care about NCAA wins, they're flukes. They consistently challenged for the MVC title, and they aren't even close to Butler or Gonzaga.

What do Butler and Gonzaga have in common? They're in crappy conferences. Let's join C-USA or something where we're unchallenged in conference and we could look a lot better.

I seriously don't know how people expect BU to be a powerhouse. When was the last time we regularly challenged for titles year in and year out? Before any current recruit was born. If you exclude times where the coach got run off by the NCAA? Before any current recruits parents were born.

I'm not saying we can't do it, but many of you act like its a given BU should be on top of the MVC, and that it's as easy as a coaching change. History has proven that just isn't true.

AMCKILLIP, I could not disagree more with what you posted. If you are right we all need to get over it and be happy with our current place in the MVC. You think the only thing Butler and Gonzaga have going for it is a poor conference? I would think that would hurt, not help?

I refuse to believe we cant do better than 4-5 in the MVC with what we have going for us. We can be a top level team year in and year out. You act like we are lucky to have any coach at all so why hold him accountable to win? Are you serious?

I want Jim to be the man at BU, but not at the cost of being the best that we can be. I still think he can get it done but I refuse to keep a coach because we cant do better..........

I agree It is all old news, we had a pages long thread towards the end and end of last season giving out grades and opinions. So what was new in his piece, nothing that we haven't heard or said before. I hope this is a very good season for JL and his team because there are those, including me, that would like to see a change in playing style and substitutions and the use of more bigs (he just didn't have enough the last 2 years, now he does). I like JL and hope he gets it done. One thing that I've noticed since I started following BradleyFans.com is that the PJS gets most of its story lines from this site, think of something new and write about that.

What I mean by "tradition" is that we have a history of success in D1 basketball although it is old history. The love for Bradley basketball is still there and if we can win Bradley will have support unlike most mid majors would get. We are a basketball school and a basketball town. How many kids have signed with BU and said that they love the fact that Bradley and Peoria are all about basketball?
