  • UConn self-imposes -- horribly soft stuff

they are trying the Hoosier, Tennessee, & USC way to get off easy...they clearly know they're guilty..but they left head coach Jim Calhoun unscathed (unlike Tennessee)...
...but as noted in other posts, the NCAA has given them tons of extra time and has led them thru the steps to avoid penalties...and they still kinda make a mockery of this...

..Get this evidence of how ridiculous this stuff really is -- one of their few and soft penalties is to dock themselves one scholarship for THIS CURRENT year when (like BU currently) they don't have all their scholarships filled anyway - and won't be able to since school's already begun!!

and now ..after endless delays.......rumors already leaking that NCAA will also come down terribly soft on them....despite the magnitude of their cheating......

sounds like they get off easy and yet watch them wail about how hard the penalties are!!!

Jim Calhoun is accused of having no institutional control of the program, isn"t that why Versace was fired as they gave Bradley a choice of keeping him and getting 2 years probation with no post season tournaments or firing him so they could play in a pot season tour.

        the details are out...
nothing at all imposed on Calhoun except a 3 game suspension next year

The school also gets almost nothing of signifcance...
nobody gets fired...no show-cause penalties, only probation -- no post-season penalties, no players ruled ineligible due to illegal contact with the agents...
no games forfeited for using the illegal players, no financial penalties, and NO TV bans or any other prohibitions...

all they get of significance besides the probation is loss of ONE single scholarship X 3 years...and they have so many 5-Star McD All Americans that their 12th and 13th players never play anyway....

In other words....they got no more of a penalty maybe less than BU got for POB getting inadvertent overpay at Star...and way less than BU got for Anthony Webster getting a plane ticket

Oh -- and by the way -- note that Calhoun was defiant and openly told the NCAA to go to h*** and was NOT cooperative...wonder what they'd have done to BU had that happened here.....or do we even have to wonder...?
