???This is a veteran group and I wanted to challenge ??™em, not only physically but mentally.???
Should we encounter some adversity this year, I really hope we don't go back to the 'experience' and 'playing together' line.
That being said, I think a guy like Platt should help us tighten up some areas where we were deficient last year. I'm ready!Onward and Upward!

So I didn't realize, I guess, that official practices had started?
AWESOME! Ready for the season!

I know it seems like a vague distinction but.....
conditioning and working with small groups and individual players has started..but actual team practices where you have 5 players on the court at a time with a ball do NOT start until Oct. 15.

Coach Platt seems to be a great influence already as mental and physical toughness is something this team has needed for awhile, not all members needed it but the ones that did could be the difference makers this year as we always seem to have great potential but fall short of reaching our goals, I would like to see the team that kicked Creightons rear at the tour. play with the same intensity each and every game, that team could win 22 or more games during the reg. season.

Question....why now? Boot camp is great but in reality its just another way to get in shape. I see a bit of marketing going on here.
Shouldn't be getting in the ultimate and peak mental and physical condition be the norm?
If this year is so special, conditioning wise, whats that make the last 9 years or what were they doing the previous years...less?
I have always assumed/hoped that conditioning was just part of D1 hoops on the Hilltop as well as every other athletic program across the US.
Again....I'm happy to hear they are getting in shape but again...I always guessed they were.

Its the same every year with the preaseason work outs and hype. This player put on weight, this player is dominating practice and the team is spending 90 percent of its time working on D....ect, ect, ect,..........
Lets finish top 3 and see how the chips fall from there. Can we start winning soon?

What if the guys on the team and coaches had the same attitude as, "it's the same thing year after year. What's the difference?" Not to say that I buy everything that is being said in workouts and practices either.
I'd rather have a "boot camp" like atmosphere this early in the season instead of in mid-December to try to get ready for the MVC after a disappointing non-conf.
Yes, I am a bit skeptical that this team will finish in the Top 3...moreso than last season. But my hope is still strong as the season approaches. I hope the guys have a new outlook about the season and forget about the past few years.
I understand the frustration of positive comments and negative results. But I still like to hear the positives rolling from Coach Les about the guys, and am confident that this season we know what it will take to be a contender. I also think that Sammy, Drew, Dodie will push the other guys because this is IT for them.
THOUGH, If I were to downplay anything that is said by coaches, it would be the team's mental toughness. I need to see that on the court as a by-product of the "good" practices. The 2006-'07 Saluki team had tremendous mental toughness, which I think we need to mirror. Our 2005-'06 team displayed great confidence and a certain toughness, which took us a long way.
