Prez Glasser realizes a lot of the current local BU fan base, and people who attend BU games, are rapidly approaching retirement home age. There are fewer and fewer potential fans who can relate to Coach Stowell's history in the Peoria area.

My guess is JG is trying to interest a younger audience who may not have gone to BU. DA is local, young, good looking, and hopefully connects to area HS players and their families, as well as recent BU grads who stayed in the area ...

Of course BU hiring former bb players for roles in the university's athletic dept or local media can also be a useful recruiting tool for future players who are interested in a career in coaching or the media, post BU BB career.

Wonder if the reaction would have been different if 'The Singh' were announced as the new BU radio bb analyst with Dave Snell. Also, wasn't Dave Snell considered somewhat out of the box when he first debuted as BU's radio play by play guy?

He turned out pretty good, yes?

add up or not...you will have to ask Coach Stowell...I expect he has a reason why he has not done road games...all I have to offer is hearsay -- which is about all anyone else has...

Everyone seems to be falling right into place on which side of this issue they fall on. Like clockwork.

I just read the article for the first time. I don't have much of an opinion, because I really do see all sides. New regime needs to put their own stamp on things, I get it. Employer X is an institution at work, I get it. This is not at all a new problem in terms of the general workplace, except in this case articles get written about it. Usually what happens is the new regime feels trapped by the past, and flexes their muscles a little too much, then sees that error and relaxes a bit, then everyone is fine.

I remember my dad's boss coming to the house after they had kept him on much longer than they needed to, and that conversation was very difficult for both, even though they both knew that it was what was best for the company. I think they probably wished he would have retired on his own, but it wasn't happening, and they kept him on a very long time. At some point, though, you have to move on. I do not agree with the "until mentally impaired" philosophy.

I am the furthest thing from a KW defender, but this article is pretty tame when compared to his usual passive-aggressive daggers. He puts the JL thing out there so no one can accuse him of using this as a way to get at the coach again. I loved listening to Coach Stowell and will miss him on the broadcasts.

So, 4 paragraphs later, I do not really have an opinion.

I just don't think mentioning JL's name added anything to that article. Like I said, how many people really think the coach sitting on the hottest seat in the conference can influence Glasser and Cross on this sort of issue?

I have on good accord that it will not be the case if someone doesn't leave on their own terms, whenever that may be. Let's hope that this is not something that has to be discussed in detail anytime soon!

              That would be a shame.

If a reader has to ask himself a question about a story after they've read it then the story was not complete. Since the history between JL and Coach is known by many that question would have come up among many..... "Hmmmm, I wonder if Les had him fired?"

Don't you two know anything about journalism?!

So people would wonder if JL had him fired from WMBD? I would not be one of those people!

said history has been known by many for several years -- so if it was an issue, why wasn't Stowell fired way back when.....?
Just sayin'....that JL had nothing to do with this despite the repeated attempts to insinuate otherwise...

I have a feeling that when/if the time comes to relieve Coach Les of his duties we will find out who the real hypocrites are

Since I am coming under attack for defending the administration (which is not exactly the case), let me state my position again-

Most people who have ever worked in any field of business have seen this phenomenon before- whenever a new CEO takes over, there are always major changes as they mold the business (in this case the university) into their own image. I have seen it with a number of businesses I have been associated with. There is usually no longer a deep loyalty to past employees as there might have been with previous administrators. So the changes at Bradley should not surprise anyone, and I expect there will be more. Recall that there were indeed many people here who called for and celebrated the change of adminstrators. I have said this before, and will reiterate it, "Be careful what you wish for".

I have the highest respect for the leaders at Bradley, and I respect and support what they are doing, and I will likely support whatever changes they make in the future, as long as I believe they are good for the university. I am a fan of Bradley University, not just a sports team, and I am not into this for my own gratification, like some fans are.

And again I will ask- how many people here had ever even heard of this Hall of Fame committee before the column by Kirk Wessler? IMO, this whole thing is a minor issue, and my only criticism was the attempt by the PJS to make it into a much biggger deal than it warrants.

We will also see who the real Bradley fans are, too.

well, what is wrong with defending the very school you claim to be a fan of?
can someone give a definition of hypocrisy??

I have one, a fan who repeatedly finds something or some reason to trash their supposed own team/school
...as if a school wants 10,000 more fans like that???

I have not agreed with everything done at or by BU but I am a fan and will not barter with my loyalty..
I was every bit as much of a fan of Jim Molinari (and still am) as I am of JL, and was surprised by Mo's firing,
yet I continued to loyally support BU. And you know what -- I think the school and its leaders appreciate fans like that.
                              ..just sayin'...

Coach Stowell IS Bradley Basketball. He's a spry 83-year-old with all his faculties. He's a legend. He has earned everything he has. If he wasn't ready to move aside on his own terms, then I'm not good with this. Period.
