Each and every time I show those numbers it's relevant to the post I'm responding to. When people say things like "that's why when we have post-season games and exhibitions, they only sell 3000-5000 tix", those postseason attendance numbers are relevant. No?
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

I think they want people to be happy, and will bend over backwards to do so, but only if it is possible to make them happy.

I think in times of change, like the new facilities, I think a little flexibility should be granted until they figure out the best way to use the place. Patience, cooperation, understanding, flexibility, loyalty, trust, whatever you want to call it.

      Just my opinion.
      Simple fact....

This program has been built on the backs of its fans. PERIOD. Without the loyal and wonderful fanbase we wouldn't even be having this discussion becuase we'd be DII or a poor excuse of a D1 program.

My simple point is everyone talks about money but how in the world does shutting out fans make you money and retain the loyalty they have shown you all these years building the program into what it is today.

You can do alot of things...I undeerstand change but you DON'T mess with the fanbase.

Every program is built on the backs of fans, and if I have to trade 100 fans who get mad when I'm working to improve my program to make money to bring in better name teams that will bring in another 1000? I'm doing that trade in a heart beat.

I'll say it again, I think Duke just tramples their fans and enjoys laughing in their face when they can't get tickets.

        • Bradley has averaged 1 or 2 sellouts per year....

now, is that good or bad?...because if you say good, then ...

It's adding more home games (a point you refuse to even acknowledge) and taking the games BU likely takes a hit on and making them profitable. So if BU decides to take these games on campus, no, they are not paid for.
My point again, is that there are more season tickets being sold, even though 1 person may be buying 5, than there are seats in the new gym. If you read an earlier post you would have seen I said I realize a game or two in the new gym wouldn't be included in the season ticket package.
I know several snow birds who buy season tickets and sell them or give them to friends or relatives. Maybe I've been getting cheated all these years because you say my tickets aren't paid for.

Not good, but still a lot more than 4200 fans, not counting the students who decide to show up for their team, showing up. Quit making sense Dogs.

I have to supervise or coach games at my school on the nights of some BU games. I almost always put my seats to use anyway.

I've repeatedly mentioned this. The Presbyterian game's actual attendance last year was about 4800. The walkup was 185.

That game fits the mold that would be an additional game played at the new arena.

If said game were to be played in the arena this year off the season ticket package, you would have fewer than 500 pre-sold tickets. And it's doubtful such a game would sell out, either.

So the likelihood of being shutout is being greatly exaggerated. I agree with those concerned, as I actually shared many of those same concerns. But after hearing people in athletics break the numbers down...it's nothing to get worked up about. And I have heard JL is concerned that the atmosphere for the arena might be "too good" and impact the team when the atmosphere gets dead at Carver.

..and I suspect some of the fans present had they NOT already owned tickets from the season package, would have been glad to skip that game and either went only because they already had the tickets or poss. they gave the tickets to someone else who went because of the unusual opportunity to go to a BU game.

I think there is a difference between keeping seating at a current level and reducing it.
