  • A Valley Recruiting Tidbit

This isn't about Bradley but give credit where credit is due.......

A top kid named BJ Young just yesterday committed to Arkansas...and over the summer
he had risen to #17 in the entire NATION!! 5-STAR by all the rating services.
Stay up to date with all the college basketball recruiting news and more at 247Sports.com

Lots of big programs were after him...IU & Tom Crean had him as a super-priority, and Illinois, Marquette, Big 12, SEC, and ACC programs were after him and offered...

BUT -- right to the very end...in amongst all the big time programs, BJ Young still listed
    Illinois State!!!

Even as recently as the past week or so he said he was still interested in visiting Illinois State.

And this interview was from 2 weeks ago --
"On September 4th I am going to Arkansas. That is the only official date that
I have set for right now. I am planning on taking trips to Indiana, Illinois
State, then some more down the road."

ISU just got a commitment a few weeks back from PG Nic Moore -- they may not have had a big shot at Young, but filling their PG needs probably dropped them on Young's list.

BTW -- Young has probably hurt his own recruiting....and just maybe he'd have been the next bad apple from McCluer or the next bad apple for ISU from the St. Louis area......
he's already been at 3 different high schools, and he's been kicked off his high school team
THREE different times, in each of his 3 high school seasons so far!
He was even expelled from one high school...I suspect BU was not recruiting him....and there's some talk that
some of his offers require him to stay in college on redshirt a year to prove he can stay out of trouble.

    To counter:

I heard Illinois lost interest because of his grades and such. I also heard that as of now he would not be eligible to play DI.

Kind of a shot when he committed to Arkansas before his dates to visit other schools such as ISU,
