  • ISU center Jackie Carmichael injured

Jackie Carmichael, who is slated to be ISU's starting center, has injured an ankle and is reported to be in a boot and on crutches. There has been no offficial statement about the injury, so it's not known how serious it is.
But with Kellen Thornton leaving, if Carmichael is not 100%, ISU may have to rely on freshmen a lot more than they wanted to like Jordan Threloff or Jon Ekey, or walk-on Blake Mishler.

Pretty much two conditions account for most kids in a boot --
stress fracture (like Andrew Warren) or fairly severe or chronic sprain...
have to wait for some official report before know which it is......

Maybe John Wilkens will have to play the 4/5 for them. Oh I forgot he wants to play the 3 exclusively.

The boot does not worry me... I had a couple classes with Trey Guidry and he wore a boot all 3 years he was at ISU, everyday. Alot of it can be preventative...

The crutches are what concern me

Hopefully he can give a presence like Carmichael's inside on D. Oh I forgot he doesn't want to play defense, he only wants the ball so he can score.

Word on the street is that Carmichael did not attend any classes Thursday or Friday. Speculation is that he had some sort of surgery. Again, let me EMPHASIZE this is speculation coming straight from the student population, not factual nor with any sort of reporting to confirm.

It is nice to have a (Bradley fan) family member on campus at ISU with an ear to the street

Yes, I am attempting to embed reporters on each both of my rival campuses (IlSU and IaSU).

As a couple people on this board can attest to, the person who gave me the Carmichael info is the same person who broke the Kellen Thornton news about 2 days before it was official or appeared on any message board or in any other form of media.

Carmichael is the one guy they cannot not afford to be down during conference play. They should be able to get through their non-con pretty well without him though.

We can only hope the dreaded BU injury 'curse' has moved to the ISU Redbirds as a result of the defection of JW from BU to ISU...

This will teach their recruits not to jerk around BU!

I have heard from a pretty well connected source that Jackie Carmichael's injury
is an ankle sprain and he is expected to recover fine...good for him...
