There is no excuse to allow teams to drive, kick and score play after play.....
BU guards get beat off the dribble a lot which results in drives to the hoop without a defensive stopper in the middle, or, creates open jump shots if the ball is then dished out and moved around. Similar story to teams that get the ball into the low post vs BU...BU typically has to double team inside which then allows opponents to kick the ball out and rotate it to the other side of the court for open jump shots.

Heck, I would settle for another 4 to complement WE and TB on the base line...someone 6'8" with some size/quick feet who likes to play defense and rebound. Don't need any offense from the position other than FT's. Remember Eddie Cage (before he got popped in the eye)...that's what BU could use.

Unless DR is really good at keeping secrets, if AT was going to help BU this year, don't you think DR would have mentioned it? JP is a redshirt frosh....I would hope he would be able to provide more to BU than a true freshman like AD...Too bad JP couldn't have played this summer with an exhibition team somewhere to get some game experience.

Speaking of MO, if BU couldn't get him enrolled and eligible, did he go anywhere else, or, to a JC where BU might be able to get him later?

Can understand why BU would like to see more results from their MBB. If BU wants to/needs to increase revenues through more fans, higher ticket prices/'seat license fees', at the PCC and get more 'seat license fees' from premium seat holders for games held in the new on campus arena, they need to improve their results....or risk continued fan base errosion...

You said one of the biggest problems... our guards getting beaten off the dribble and I think that is a huge issue. But how does having a person in the middle eliminate our guards losing guys off the dribble? And how does having a person in the middle eliminate the dishing out to open shooters?

I would think the lack of a big would allow for more easy in the paint opportunities not more 3pt shots off of kick outs. When it becomes 4 on 5 the ball handler has so many more options and a wide open shooter will bury jumpers all day long, especially against us.

But regardless I saw to many times last year our defenders were completely out of position. Guys leaving there man to float into the lane or simply just losing a guy. I agree that by doubling down on a post, if that post can pass it makes it impossible to defend a shooter.

I guess then that means if your WE you have to make that post guy either move the ball out or keep him off the baseline.

I think we can be a much better defening program with better defensive principles. That includes our guards not letting guy get by them and creating mis matches.

We gave up to many 2nd chances. That has what killed us. Play great D for 30 seconds and then for get about rebounding? Kick outs are part of a game and not over playing the drive is crucial to protect the perimeter but not giving 2nd point opportunities is crucial to winning.

Up early this am huh SFP?

It all goes back to fundamental defensive principals. Boxing out, keeping the dribbler infront of you, not losing sight of your man. Last season we did not play anywhere near fundamentaly on defense.

I thought we did a little better job last year then in the past on the rebounding we were only out boarded by 2 per game, not good by any means but much better then previous seasons.

I continue to go back to the Western Carolina, Loyola, ISUblue there etc and how often did we get lost on defense and that is either in a zone or in man to man and allow wide open jumpshots.? Then again Loyola did out board us by 14 that night, but then that goes right back to fundamental defense, and your assurtion of giving up mulitipule shot opportunities.

I usually work from home but today I had to head to an office. Just checking the mail before I take a shower. I could not see myself heading to an office 5 days a week. I do not know how I did that.
