Mens BB game in New Facility

LG--- You are way off base on this one! I am merely expressing an opinion based on statements from BU on the POSSIBILITY of a regular season game in the new facility in the hope they might listen to what some of us are saying before they do the wrong thing. Apparently, in your rant, you failed to notice that I suggested "they back off for a year or two before proceeding".
If we followed your dumb suggestion, we'd still be playing at Roberson FH with a super home court advantage, and small (but larger than the new gym) rowdy crowds on top of the floor. You sound like the 12 year old girl with bubble gum for brains.

If Bradley does host a MBB game on campus, I at least would hope the game would be televised. Then again I wish every Bradley game was televised.

I think it is completely illogical and retarded to host mens basketball games in such a small limited facility. Rediculous.

            Right.

What would be different in one or two years? Nada.

If they are going to make a move its when the new facility is actually NEW. This move benefits the whole athletic department and no one has directly said that you, Wizard, were going to be put out.

Just do your best to get a ticket.

            So whiney today...

One game guys! I just can't believe a bunch of grown men feel so strong about an early game against a cupcake would mean so much. Let's not even get into post-season. I'm sure BU if given the home game would play at CC first but now they have an option if Disney on Ice takes over. I'm done with this thread. Again another take of complete over the top point of view.

Oh OOB just because I have not been to a game at CC in a long time it does not mean I would not love to. I'm not sure how my opinion is less worthy then yours. Come on man! I do understand about man and their rituals and the BU games are a great excuse to have a few cold ones, perhaps get away from the doldrums of winter and for a few hours feel completely alive. This though is just one game. You guys are BU men's basketball addicts.

To be clear....let's imagine a scenario where a game at the Civic Center sells out. Well, by definition, fans will be shut out of attending that game.

The point is not necessarily about the pure idea of shutting out fans....it's about shutting out A LOT of fans. Like a few of the other posts in here, I do believe in the idea of supply and demand a bit. But there's a difference between a couple hundred and a couple thousand fans getting shut out.

In 2 years the NCAA could have already deemed us DII after football Armageddon has concluded.

All half-kidding aside, in 2 years, I think BU will be playing more home games than we've seen in decades and we should be able to draw better home opponents. People will purchase their season tickets KNOWING THERE ARE EXTRAS NOT INCLUDED. Caveat emptor.

I can not stress enough, though these first two years may not reflect it, it could be possible for BU to play as many as 18 home games. I will look up later the last time that actually happened.

Season ticket holders have at most received 16 in recent years. There may have been 17 one out of the last 10 years.

I actually think this whole scenario is disappointing. I really do.

If BU can create enough long-term demand by increasing profits and WINNING, maybe, just maybe in 15 years a much more suitable large arena either on-campus or the Civic route can occur.

                    Gotta have vision.

anyway -- I have no seats secured whatsoever in the new facility although I expect I have my usual season tix at the CC.

OK friend, did I not knock you for not being able to attend any games All I said/meant was, yours/other's who may not be getting left out, don't feel what loyal season tick. holders feel By getting cut out of a game or games, our ticket prices would be costing more for less I just don't think anyone, other than those who are directly involved, should point the finger at those who put up their money to assure them of their purchased/ assigned seat and maybe not seeing their team play
Season tickets have always meant seats for all home games and same seats for any post season seats (at additional cost Where is BU headed to here, three different tear's of tickets! We already have the season tickets holders, the league season only ticket holders and then we would add those one game and post season ticket holders in the new facility
No friend, your inability to attend home, tournament or post season game's NEVER was meant to invade or discredit your locality and support for BU There are many BU fans and even x-players who are like you, and remain loyal followers of BU BB

If only BU would be up front on the issue of Men's BB games in the on campus arena......

As mentioned on this forum in other posts, its an attempt to get fans to pay additional money to BU for seats, and for some, additional PSL's, to watch men's basketball. The new arena and parking deck would not generate much revenue from the other sports which will use the facility for competition.

Enough of bringing bb back to campus, negotiating leverage with the PCC, increasing student attendance, creating a home court advantage, etc. These are all secondary to what the university really wants, more $$....Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Another idea, improve the success of the men's bb team in order to sell out the PCC more often.

My worry is BU starting to look like Drake, who play in an on campus gymnasium (not a stadium) to 4-5000 fans with no parking, no easy access, no nearby pre/post game food and drink, and only 100 or so students attending. Their basketball program is now dwarfed by Iowa and Iowa State, and now Northern Iowa.

When Drake was relevant in the MVC and on a national stage, they played downtown Des Moines in a 10,000+ seat auditorium which drew fans/students.

OK, BIG DOG T You and other's know where I am going with this Maybe we could name this game, The Game for BIG DOG's or The Queens Game
I am sorry here but I don't like the idea of purchasing two season tickets in my assigned seats and then being cut out of a home game and then forced to buy another 2 tickets to see the game at the new place that may not be as good of seats as I have sat in for years at the CC
You know the old saying, If you leave a wounded DOG around, you will get bit

OOB -- if Bradley set up a game right now with EIU or even with a bigger name - then tried to sell tix at the new arena, it probably would NOT sell out....
that's why the NIT games only draw 4000, people just don't really wanna pay for a game vs. EIU or EIEIOU...so now BU is giving them that exact chance....
they don't have to buy the tix for the least desirable games nor are they forced to pay for 'em as part of the season ticket package...unless they want to...
but EVERYONE who wants tix will be able to get them!!

, Lord T, you lost me and I know thats not hard to do We haven't been in a NIT game for so long but I am sure as hungry as the BU fans are for a real post season tournament there would be more than 4,000 fans there Are you saying BU by scheduling down some games they don't care about $$ In doing this there will soon be no such thing as a season ticket holder for all home games Or are you saying, as a season ticket holder I will be able to have my season assigned seats for the games I choose to pay for only This should work out great Sorry I like going to all the home games. Can't see how this would benefit BU Thanks for the insite T, look out season ticket holders, grease up baby
