I recall hearing discussion about the EIEO tourneys breaking even at the best for BU.

Combined with my commoner knowledge that I've do not recall getting a group or discounted ticket for less than half off, I'm thinking most of that 'half' is going straight to the PCC, and that 6000 is needed to break even. If that is true, then 4000 on campus is the same as 10000 at the PCC

I believe one year we had to go on the road because CC was in use! Imagine that?

I believe this was the case with the three game series with Tulsa perhaps?

It's a fun, unique LIMITED ENGAGEMENT thing. No one is talking about moving multiple, meaningful games out of the PCC and no one is telling you that you can't go to the game, just go buy a ticket like the commoners do for every game.

If you would seriously consider pulling donations or support for the university or basketball program over this, then you are selfish and loyal only to yourself and your needs, and not a true supporter of the university and it's best interests. But let me guess, what's in BU's best interest is keeping you happy so the checks keep coming right, everything else be ****ed.
If the Eastern game is played at the Civic Center, lets do an over-under @ 4,500, for $100.

Now as an institution let's talk about Profit Margins. I would bet the margins of playing that game on campus would be greater then at CC for BU. There lies the problem. CC is sucking in a huge amount of their revenue from BU but BU really gets very little in return from priority and loyalty. I'm sure if the folks at CC acted as a true partner this issue would not have shown its ugly head. JMHO

I think its "completely illogical" to get all worked up before you even know what is going to happen.

The benefits to playing a game there, right now, seem to be outweighing the negatives in my opinion.

Cons - a couple thousand folks may not get to see AN EXTRA game this year

              Pros -
              - the benefit mentioned above to the bottom line.
              - Any $$ lost by not having a few thousand folks may be offset by not having to pay the CC to be in their facility for a night
              - Added student interest from an on campus event that could spark interest to go downtown for games.
              - Great home atmosphere. (not a knock to the CC - just drastically different)
              - The WBB and VB teams benefit from the sale of these 500 or so "priority" seats
              - Place to host post season events
              - We gain a little wiggle room in dealing with the CC
              - Anyone who has ever taken an economics class would tell you that creating a little demand is NEVER a bad thing.

The old line of "I've been a season ticket holder for X amount of years" is getting tired guys. This is clearly a business decision meant to benefit the athletic department and not meant to tick you off.

If you want to go to the one or two games that'll be held at the new arena then get off your lazy arses and make sure you get a ticket.

Why don't we lay off the "retarded" comments and just wait to see how it all plays out.

If I get shut out of "the game" this year - I'll try that much harder to make sure I'm there next year.
Carver holds almost 10000 more than the new gym, yes gym is what it is. Don't think the CC is worried about "wiggle room".
What part of illegal don't you understand?

The ability to schedule a non-conference game without having to bow to the circus, concerts, disney-on-ice or whatever offers a "LITTLE" wiggle room...which is what I said Chico.

Does anyone know what the contract we have with CC looks like? Breakdown? Structure? It's just that we are all just typing away without knowing all the facts, except that if the games are played in the on campus arena there will be some upset fans, of course if for some reason Disney on ice took precedent at CC they would be happy to have the games on campus.

So.....we are not moving one of the PCC open-date games to the new arena, or are we only going to play a game at the new arena that can't be played that same day at the PCC?

When BU stated that they're "considering hosting at least one regular-season game in the new arena during the 2010-11 season", I was under the impression it didn't have anything to do with open dates at the PCC. I could be wrong, but that's just the impression I was left with.

Go back and look at my last post. All I was asking for in order to have a better understanding of why the Administration would even consider a men's game on campus, I would like to know what the PCC contract looks like. I'm sure if it was a win win for both we would never play at the on campus facility. We have had issues with the folks at Carver for years besides the financial terms from the ticket office, the ice (slippery floor anyone?), priorities and practice time. If I was the Administration I also would want an option on the table and by playing a game there now it shows the PCC crew it is not an idle threat. That one game will cost them but how much? Forget about the students and your season ticket this year but the long-term financial contract with PCC. So, considering hosting at least one regular-season game in the new arena during the 2010-11 season" becomes an option that gives us leverage. What do you not get? I always negotiate contracts for a win win result except when I know I have a fish over a barrel then for some reason my margins increase.

I don't believe my conference season tickets will be affected by the new arena, at least I would hope not....unless of course the PCC isn't available.

As I stated, I may have gotten the wrong impression from the BU press release, but I never thought the reason they are considering at least one regular-season game was the fact the PCC won't be available for a game we are scheduling.

When 10,000 more loyal fans, not the ones who will only go if the game is on campus and think they are supporting the team, can attend a game at the CC, it's worth working with the folks at the CC.

At what price? Are you willing to make up the difference? I'm sure the BU guys are looking out for the BU folks but can you say the same thing about the CC folks?

Where is this figure coming from? Seriously? The games that will likely be played at the new facility won't be in such demand.

As I've pointed out before, the games that will be played there in recent years have had about 4800-5500.

If seating and SRO is absolutely no more than 4200 that's 1300 AT WORST. Even if you push the number to 6000, it's still less than HALF (1800) what you are claiming. If SRO pushes it to 5000, it's probable no one gets left out.

Furthermore, that 4800 number is based on the approximate number of season ticket holders that attend every single game, and does not take into account those who won't go to extra games, period. Never mind taking corporate held seats out of the equation.

I understand that 1 may be too many. But let's not exaggerate.

Our highest attendance at a postseason game in the last four years was 9,000. Given that the BU press release says the capacity for sporting events at the new arena is 4,200 and all home postseason games will be played there......that is a total of 4,800 fans that would have went to that game.
