there are other issues such as concessions revenue, overhead costs of playing at the Civic Center, and lastly the benefit of filling the place for a lesser desirable opponent instead of playing in a downtown arena with half the seats empty.
Also - the on-campus arena is "our baby' - so let's give our baby a chance and see how she does...

So really it all goes back to revenue regarding wanting to play on campus. Whether its concessions, overhead, license fees, making donors happy this decision is for the most part money related.

I dont buy the half empty thing, if this program wins and wins consistantly EIU on a Tuesday will draw. It might not draw like SIU on a Saturday night but it would draw well. I guess the smaller setting gives a "louder" environment but if you can put 8500 in Carver even with overhead etc costs I have to beleive you come out ahead money wise.

Bottom line BU is going to do as they please and it appears from all communication they will play atleast one regular season game in the new arena. Regardless of what appears a negative reaction from the general community.

Hmmm, are you saying, unlike Obama, BU should favor "The Rich"?.
Is this ticket redistribution, or redistribution of wealth in reverse?
Personally, I think Bradley would draw more that 4,500 for The New Jersey Institute of Technology

Agreed. I get why people are upset by this, but let's see what the story is after they've given it a try.

I thought I read where the women were playing all of their basketball/volleyball games there

All I think is they are trying to sell those licenses and it makes it a whole heck of a lot easier to sell them if you give those buying a license a pretty big incentive... a regular season Mens Basketball game.

And btw exactly where is it that BU already doesnt favor the rich, the more you are willing to give, pay in maintence, you have access to the best seats? Any athletics department is going to "take care" of those who take care of them. Bradley is no different.

Here's the story.....5000 loyal BU fans not able to see the team play a game due to greed.

Here would be a great addition to the story...the game ends up being a 8 overtime game with Sammy hitting an 85 foot shot to win at the last second.

Warren goes off for a record 69 points and Will Egolf pulls down 26 rebounds....

Nah nobody would be upset they got shut out from this game after seeing EVERY home game for 20+ years.

Please, let's not give it a chance. If they wanted the arena for men's games they needed 8,000 at the very least. This arena is not for the men's basketball program to play in. It is a nice practice facility, and they can play preaseason exibition games there. That is all it should be used for as far as the men's program.

And thats fine.....give em better seats, colder Beer, parking, shine their freakin shoes when they step through the gates, whatever..... you just DON'T take away games from a fan, that is unless you don't consider them a REAL fan becuase of wallet size like some have hinted at.

How about this......give 10k you see every home game.....give 5k you lose 5 home games....2k you lose 7 home games and if "alls you do is buy season tickets" we'll let you know what games are available for you to see.

I buy a SEASON ticket......for the ENTIRE home slate. Deny me a home game and you can kiss my arse.

Buy a season ticket and you allready get that....well thats what I thought season tickets gave you.

Sorry...I don't seeing being an elitist as a big incentive. Being able to say...ha ha.....I got a ticket for this game. I have been a fan at BU for only a year but I gave $25,000 but you have only attended every BU game for the last 35 years so sit your rear outside and I'll tell you how it was inside for my and my $$$ cronies.

                        SOME get off on that...sorry I don't.

I'm not exactly thrilled about this situation either. I agree with your sentiment RE: the size of the arena. Dropped ball big time.

But I think people are over-reacting as to how this will impact them.

5000 "loyal" fans will not be shut out.

Roughly 60% of season ticket holders attend every single game during a given year. That is roughly 4800. For instance, actual attendance was very near that for the Presbyterian game (despite the announced 8200 or so), with a walkup of only 185.

Subtract several hundred corporate held seats.

I'm hearing now with standing room only, 5000 is a possibility.

So I think the number of people who will be squeezed out is going to be relatively low.

OK so 100 people get left out in the cold for ONE reason and ONE reason only....they aren't rich enough or choose to donate their hard earned money elsewhere. That bites IMO.

Sorry you don't take away games from ANYONE becuase they choose not to buy a PSL.
Its ludicrous, bad business and NOT in tune with being a BRAVE fan.

I guess I just don't understand the concept of selling out the smaller arena (and in turn "denying" people that are willing to go) because you'd rather not have 5,000 empty seats at the PCC. I'm not even a season-ticket holder and I'm upset that postseason games will be played at the new arena. I'd be livid if I was a season-ticket holder and unable to get tickets.
